Show Notes

Tom Webster, a marine and retired New York City police officer, was involved in the January 6th protest at the Capitol grounds. He was arrested, tried, and convicted on six counts, including assaulting an officer with a dangerous weapon, and sentenced to ten years in prison.

When Donald Trump took office on January 20th, he pardoned approximately 1,500 people convicted of January 6th-related crimes. Some people criticized the pardon, especially for individuals like Webster whom they considered violent toward police officers.

Webster never entered the Capitol building. Footage, which was reportedly not fully admitted in court, suggested that the police officer struck him first, prompting Webster's retaliation.
