An off-Broadway production titled “The Originalist” is an engrossing and surprisingly even-handed portrait of the late conservative titan, Justice Antonin Scalia, in his element.
It is a smart, challenging, and delightful portrayal.
Upon entry, instead of a program or playbill, ushers hand attendees copies of the U.S. Constitution.
It’s hard to picture the most ardent Regressives leaving this production without having gained respect and appreciation for Justice Scalia.
So robust are his defenses of originalism that this play should be labeled a potential gateway drug to constitutional conservatism for Regressives.
