"You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor” Exodus 20:16 (ESV).
My name is Abraham Hamilton, III and this is The Hamilton Minute.
The 9th Commandment clearly prohibits lying. But a deeper dive into it reveals something that our culture seems to sprinting away from at full speed.
Embedded within the command is the implication that people have a divinely imposed duty to refrain from lying or defaming their neighbors.
Additionally, the command reveals that mankind also enjoys a divine right not to be lied to or defamed.
When we allow falsity, lies, and defamation to persist in our personal, cultural and political lives we align ourselves with the Father of lies who is also the accuser of the brethren.
