October 11, 1798 John Adams, the second President of the United States, addressed the Massachusetts Militia and said:
“Our Constitution was made ONLY for a moral and religious People. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.”
He rightly highlighted the reality that this great American experiment in self-government and liberty would only work where the popular societal ethos is derived from the character produced by the Holy Spirit’s indwelling.
The recent popularity of socialism is directly related to America moving further away from God.
