The Activate Summit was held in Tupelo, Mississippi, last weekend
>> Ed Battagliano: Before we give our questions, we just had the activate summit. We had people from all over the nation in Tupelo, Mississippi, a lot of great speakers. Ed, you were one of the speakers. Abraham Hamilton iii, Todd Herman. my wife and I, half of our family was there. We met Whitney and Shannon Black from Baker City, Oregon. We met Mark and Sally. We met a cowboy from Texas named Glenn and he was there with his daughter. He actually grew up in CrossFit, Arkansas, but spends his time between Texas and Arkansas. Miss Marilyn was there. The hills. They had a lot of children. They were from South Georgia. But I actually got to visit with hundreds of AFR listeners. Our listeners are the best. It was a vacation with a purpose. And it was just so nice to put a face with so many of you listening to the radio.

Short devotion. We had, speakers and sessions, all day Friday and all day Saturday, well, until the late afternoon. And it was wonderful. We're going to do this once a year, so be on the lookout for.
>> Ed Battagliano: Next year, start to finish. Yeah, it was just our entire family. We just enjoyed the teen track, all the different sessions. Our entire family enjoyed it or the ones that were there. Half our family was there. And they said, boy, we didn't realize. We knew, you know, we're going to get to meet a lot of people. It's going to be a lot of work involved. We didn't know it was going to be this fun. We're going to meet so many wonderful people. So if you missed out this year, put a little bug for next year. The Bible question is more important than Andy Griffith, regardless of what everybody Griffith

>> Bert Harper: Okay. I always have a Bible question and a Griffith. Now, they're not equal. The Bible question is more important than Andy Griffith, regardless of what everybody Griffith.
>> Ed Vitagliano: Is expected when you're on the show.
>> Bert Harper: Okay, here's the Bible question. And, I've asked this, and people had to think, what is the name of the warrior that defeated the Canaanites when Deborah was the judge over Israel? What was the name of the warrior captain leader, that defeated the Canaanites when Deborah was the judge? That's important question. Yeah. so here's my, Andrew Griffith question. What is the name of the only department store in Mayberry? What is the name of the only department store in Mayberry? And it comes up quite often. Yeah, quite often.
>> Ed Battagliano: Really?
>> Bert Harper: Yeah, often. Many times. And then here's this one. 50 years ago, guess what movie was released. Jaws.
>> Ed Vitagliano: 50 years ago. Today.
>> Bert Harper: Today.
>> Ed Battagliano: Wow.
>> Bert Harper: 20Th, 1975. jaws. in honor of that, how many bones do sharks have? How many bones the sharks have? Now, we're not counting the people that the shark.
>> Ed Battagliano: Oh, my word. What a dark turn from you, Pastor.
>> Ed Vitagliano: And of course I liked it. I liked the joke. But, but I. I go dark sometimes with.
Three questions from Cindy Roberts that you may have to look up
All right, I have three questions, and on the way down here, I was thinking, these are kind of hard, so some of these you may have to look up. Although maybe I'm mischaracterizing this. Maybe for a lot of you, you know the answers. Here's my first one. This is actually from Cindy Roberts, who does call screening for us for Trivia Friday most Fridays. When Solomon built the temple, there were two tall pillars set up. What were their names? There were names for these pillars. When Solomon built the temple, there were two tall pillars set up. What were their names? Now, you may have to look that up, but.
>> Ed Battagliano: Can I interrupt? Sure. Tim's not here. Let me provide the mockery because I can hear his voice. Go ahead, Ed. Waste your time asking another hard question because nobody's going to get it.
>> Ed Vitagliano: Nobody's going to get it.
>> Bert Harper: Make sure you say pillars and not pillows.
>> Ed Vitagliano: Oh, pillows.
>> Bert Harper: Yeah.
>> Ed Battagliano: This has nothing to do with the. My pillow. Hey, we've got a great deal on some pillows in the temple. Not only can you get one, but we got satin sheets for King David's bed. We'll throw that in. But wait, there's more.
>> Ed Vitagliano: And we name our pillows.
The movie Rocky was based on the real life of what relatively unknown boxer
All right, second question. The movie Rocky. We all love the movie Rocky. Go ahead, J.K. do it. yo, yo.
>> Ed Battagliano: I really help with it. Yeah.
>> Ed Vitagliano: The movie Rocky was based on the real life of what relatively unknown boxer?
>> Ed Battagliano: Wow.
>> Ed Vitagliano: This is. This is. Some of you may know this off the top of your head. The movie Rocky was based on the real life of what relatively unknown boxer? And I'll give you this hint. It's. It was based on this boxer's 1975 fight with Muhammad Allie.
>> Bert Harper: Oh, wow.
>> Ed Vitagliano: All you have to do is look that up. It'll come right up. And then here's the third one. LAMI L A H M M I. Lamy was the brother of what biblical villain? Lamy was the brother of what biblical villain? That's pretty hard, isn't it?
>> Ed Battagliano: Are you serious? Do you think somebody, we need Alex.
>> Bert Harper: If Alex McFarland's out there, please call in the deal.
>> Ed Battagliano: A VBS you went to as a kid Was a whole lot different than mine. Cuz we just took some macaroni and put it on a board and took a can of spray paint. We wasn't finding out. No villains and Lamy and all their second brothers twice removed and cousins and things. That's all right.
>> Ed Vitagliano: I'll give. I'll give a hint. I'll give a hint. Lomi was the brother of what biblical villain? And there were three other brothers.
>> Ed Battagliano: That's better.
>> Ed Vitagliano: Now. Now you should be able to get it Now.
>> Ed Battagliano: I just.
>> Ed Vitagliano: Now I just put the cookies on the bottom shelf.
>> Ed Battagliano: You just offered that up on a silver lamy.
A can of Diet Coke will float in water, but a regular Coke will sink
Here's what we got. Think, rental movies, home movie. Question category. First question. In the 1980s, there were two competing formats for rental movies, slash, home movies. One was vhs. Name the other. Dhs. Name the competitor. Second question. Black Corinth, Muscat and Thompson are varieties of what fruit? Black Corinth, Muscat and Thompson are varieties of what fruit?
>> Ed Vitagliano: Muscat or Muskrat?
>> Ed Battagliano: you know, I can't really read my writing, so I'm just gonna blur the word.
>> Ed Vitagliano: Yeah, it's musk.
>> Bert Harper: Must be muskrat.
>> Ed Battagliano: Pratt, if, you just hit a pothole driving your van and your radio kind of skipped, that helped me out. here's the third question. True or false. A can of Diet Coke will float in water, but a can of regular Coca Cola will sink. Is that true or false? Here's the thing. You're holding a can of Diet Coke. You're holding a can of Coke. If you toss both of those into the lake, the Diet Coke will float, but the regular Coke will sink to the bottom.
>> Bert Harper: And by the way, if the Coke is opened.
>> Ed Battagliano: No, no, no. These are both. You're just. You got. They're both full. It's not a trick question. You pitch a Diet Coke and pitch regular Coke into the pond, the Diet Coke will sit there and float. The regular Coke will sink. Is that true or false?
>> Ed Vitagliano: And the same might be true about the people who drink each one.
>> Ed Battagliano: Oh.
>> Ed Vitagliano: If you drink Diet Coke, you float. No, I'm just kidding.
>> Bert Harper: Okay.
Where are you from in Virginia? I'm located in Richmond area
>> Ed Vitagliano: All right. Take us to the bones, brother.
>> Bert Harper: Let's go to Virginia. And it's Linda. And again, she's been holding on for two weeks.
>> Ed Vitagliano: Yeah, because last week we had a best of.
>> Bert Harper: Yeah. Hey, Linda, where you from in Virginia?
>> Ed Battagliano: I'm located in Richmond area. I live actually in Colonial Heights, which is south of, Richmond. Next to Petersburg. Good area.
>> Bert Harper: Yeah. What do you want to answer, ask or both?
>> Ed Battagliano: I want to do Both.
>> Bert Harper: Okay, which question do you want to answer?
>> Ed Vitagliano: I want to answer the question about.
>> Ed Battagliano: The muscat, the Thompson, and I don't remember the last one.
>> Ed Vitagliano: I know what it is.
>> Ed Battagliano: Is it musk cat or muskrat? Because it's okay. It had me second guessing. My.
>> Ed Vitagliano: My chicken muskrat is like a,
>> Ed Battagliano: It's like a vermin or something. Well, that's what I was thinking. My chicken scratch here. I mean, my muskrat scratching. I wasn't sure if I was. Hey, here's this question. Thanks. It's a black Corinth. Muscat and Thompson are varieties of what? Fruit? Grapes. Way to go. Way to start us out. Now, did you ever have any grapes? Or muscadines? Do you have a garden? How'd you know this? I go to the grocery store. There you go. There you go. Just head over there on the produce aisle.
>> Ed Vitagliano: You mentioned muscadines. when I first I married. I'm from the North. I married a Mississippi girl. When we first moved to Mississippi from Arizona, I got a job. I was working part time with a church. Got a full time job writing for a newspaper. My first assignment was to travel to the next town over that was having a Muscadine festival. And I'd never heard of him.
>> Ed Battagliano: The boy from Boston? Yes.
>> Ed Vitagliano: I'd never heard of him. So I walk into the mayor's office who had. She had graciously agreed to be interviewed. And I asked her, I said, I wanted to talk to you about the Muscadin Festival.
>> Ed Battagliano: No, you.
>> Ed Vitagliano: Yes, I did. She just bust out laughing. She said, the what? I said, the Muscadin Festival. She said, it's muscadine. And she said, you ain't from around here, are you, boy? So, yeah, that was my first, my first, little assignment there.
>> Ed Battagliano: I know we need to get back to Linda. No surprise to you guys. I have a joke for that. you being from the north, marrying a Southern girl. They said that? Of course. Mason Dixon line folks in the north, you know, they call it soda, we call it Coke. you know, they're not so sure about fried green tomatoes and grits, you know, and Southerners are, you know, understand that. But they said there's a difference between nursery rhymes. Difference between nursery rhymes between the north and the South. In the North, a nursery nursery rhyme starts out, once upon a time in the south. It starts out, y' all ain't gonna believe this.
>> Ed Vitagliano: There was this troll under a bridge.
>> Ed Battagliano: Hey, Linda, way to go. Right out of the shoot. You Answered it correctly.

>> Ed Battagliano: Yes, it was. It was. Have y' all ever been to Bedford, Virginia, where they have the D Day Memorial?

>> Ed Vitagliano: Well, Linda, why. Why Bedford, Virginia? Was that a staging area for some of our troops going across the Atlantic or. That's.
>> Ed Battagliano: That's a very interesting story.
>> Ed Vitagliano: I don't know the whole story.
>> Ed Battagliano: Behind it, but I do know that the casualties, the number of young men went to war, in World War II and participated in the invasion of Normandy, were from Bedford, Virginia, and most of them died. And so the concentration, percentage wise, was a large percentage. And, look it up. That's B, E, D, F, O, R.
>> Ed Vitagliano: D. Okay, thank you.
>> Ed Battagliano: That's good. There's a book out there about Bedford boys, and, I have read the book many years ago. but if you ever get a chance to visit there, you should. If you come through, ah, the mountains there in Virginia. It's around the Appalachian area. or the, Blue Ridge. You know, the Blue Ridge Mountain. Linda. Somebody was smart to think, you know, you Got Manhattan, the Big Apple, New York. And in all the stores, all the things, Little Apple furniture, Little Apple plumbing. So that's pretty cool marketing.
>> Ed Vitagliano: I like it.
>> Ed Battagliano: And a great, great, pregnancy center there.

>> Ed Vitagliano: No, she was.
>> Bert Harper: She's too young.
>> Ed Vitagliano: She was, she was filmed, standing up. All three of those main characters were. I'm trying to remember. Maybe the one who played Jabba the Hutt. That was just a. You know what? I think you sniffed us.
>> Ed Battagliano: Yeah, Jabba the Hutt's, wife on the thing there. Rachel, what's the answer? it was Peter Cushing. He played, Grand Moff Tarkin, the.
>> Bert Harper: Officer who was in charge of the Death Star, he was never filmed.

We're gonna go see the movie. We were on Frederick street, the Only theater in town. And it was a block long the line. And, everybody was already telling us how terrifying it was. We got up to where there about three people before we got our ticket. And she said, I just can't do it. I'm just scared. I just can't do it. I said, you gotta be kidding me.
>> Bert Harper: We stood.
>> Ed Battagliano: I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry. So we left. So everybody kept saying, best movie I've ever seen in my life. This is amazing. You know, just, sitting on the edge of my seat, she said, I'm just so sorry. Give me another chance. We go back Friday night, Saturday night, stand in a long, long, long line. We get up to the ticket counter. We're right there at the thing in the little glass booth, about to get her ticket. She said, I can't do it.
>> Ed Vitagliano: Are you serious?
>> Ed Battagliano: No. And then it happens one more time. I mean, I'm like Linus. I mean, I'm like Charlie Brown holding that football. Three different times. We get right there and she just says, I can't do it. I'm just so scared. I'm afraid I'll have nightmares. Blah, blah, blah. So everybody then at school, everybody told me every single thing about every single scene. So, no, I meant to go see it, and I never have. And I've been at hotel rooms and I've seen a fourth of it a couple of times, but I need to go see it because, there I missed up. Missed my chance.
>> Bert Harper: 50 years now is.
>> Ed Battagliano: Yeah. And I was just a kid. That was 50 years ago.
>> Ed Vitagliano: And. And back then, you couldn't go to Blockbuster or, you know, you couldn't rent a movie like that.
>> Bert Harper: You had to wait five years over on TV.
>> Ed Vitagliano: On TV?
>> Ed Battagliano: Oh, yeah. People don't realize if you're 30 and under, 40 and under, I mean, you couldn't stream anything. There was no smartphones. You couldn't. You know, there wasn't even. There wasn't even vhs.
>> Ed Vitagliano: Right.
>> Ed Battagliano: Or any of those, different things. But, yeah, so there's my. I've never, ever seen, Jaws. And I want to watch it.
>> Ed Vitagliano: And you never. And you never marry that girl. What a surprise.
>> Ed Battagliano: Hey, Barbara Brown. No, she dumped me. If you're out there. I did okay, And I'm happy married.
>> Bert Harper: But she hadn't seen Jaws with you, though.
>> Ed Battagliano: No, we didn't see. Hey, I'm giving my best effort. Three different times.
>> Ed Vitagliano: Three different times. Good grief.
Are your professors today? We're going to reset our questions
All right, folks, it is Trivia Friday. The number to call is 888-589-8840. Ed Vitagliano, J.J. jasper, Burt Harper. Are your professors today? We're going to reset our questions. Brother Burt, go ahead and start us off.
>> Bert Harper: Okay, the Ender Griffith show question. What is the name of the only department store in Mayberry? This one. two new ones. This one's a true or false. The Grand Canyon is larger than the state of Rhode Island. Is this true?
>> Ed Battagliano: Wow.
>> Ed Vitagliano: Wow.
>> Bert Harper: And then how many signers of, the Declaration of Independence became president and who were they? How many signers of, the Declaration of Independence became president, and who were they?
>> Ed Vitagliano: All right, here are my three very, very difficult questions. But that's all right, because that means the rest of my questions I'm gonna have for next week. Here's the first one. When Solomon built the temple, there were two tall pillars set up. What were their names? Solomon named them. This is a question from Cindy Roberts, who does our call screening. Second question. The movie Rocky was based on the real life story of what relatively unknown boxer. You may have to look this up. This boxer in 1975 had a fight with Muhammad Allie that was very similar to the story, in Rocky. And then third question. Lami. L A H M M. I was the brother of what biblical villain? And I was forced by peer pressure to give a hint that, Lamy and this biblical villain, they had three other brothers. So that should, that should pretty much give that away.
>> Ed Battagliano: And his cousin, the Dolly Lamy, he, he does pretty good with his following. Took him down the wrong road, but it had a lot of, he.
>> Ed Vitagliano: Had a lot of likes the Dolly Lami on his Instagram page. All right, go ahead, jj.
In the 1980s, there were two competing formats for rental movies
>> Ed Battagliano: All right, here's what I've got. we were talking about, movies. This is a rental from the rental movie home movie category. In the 1980s, there were two competing formats for rental movies. Home movies. One was VHS. Name the competitor. One was VHS. The other, name the other. And they actually VHS won out, won the war. The competition war. The other one just went off to the buggy whip bin. second question. True or false? You're holding a can of Diet Coke, and in one hand a Regular Coke in the other. If you toss them into the lake, the Diet Coke will float, the Regular Coke will sink. Is that true or false? Then I'll add one. army just celebrated its 250th birthday. Happy birthday to the army. Here's an army question. What rank in the US army is just above the rank of first lieutenant? What rank in the US army is one notch above the rank of first lieutenant. All right, good question.
In the 80s, there were two competing formats for rental movies
>> Bert Harper: Okay, let's go to Kansas and talk to Kurt. Kurt, thank you for calling.
>> Ed Battagliano: Oh, good morning, you guys. How are you guys doing?
>> Bert Harper: Doing great. How's things in Kansas?
>> Ed Battagliano: it's gonna be hot this weekend.
>> Ed Vitagliano: Many in the 90s, so.
>> Bert Harper: Okay.
>> Ed Vitagliano: First day of summer.
>> Bert Harper: Yeah, that's expected. Hey. Yeah. You want to answer, ask or both?
>> Ed Battagliano: I. I just want to answer once.
>> Bert Harper: Okay. Which question?
>> Ed Vitagliano: I want to add, the, one.
>> Ed Battagliano: JJ about the 19, 80.
>> Ed Vitagliano: VHS.
>> Ed Battagliano: Yeah. Yeah. Here's the question. In the 80s, there were two competing formats for rental movies, home movies. One was VHS. Name the other. Beta. beta.
>> Bert Harper: That's it.
>> Ed Battagliano: I don't want to get too far in the weeds, but if I remember this right, I was reading an article years ago and it said beta was actually better in every way. The quality, this, that all, you know, the tape, all the. It was better, but something about that. The VHS partnered with the Pornographers and they got the volume and the other one said, no, we're not going to do that. And they lost out and they had to go under and file bankruptcy and disappear. Now, if I remember that article right, it was like one of those things where you're like, oh, they just must have been Coke and Pepsi and, you know, just personal, ah, preference. They said, no, the one that actually lost was better in this way, this way and this other way.
>> Bert Harper: I did not know that.
>> Ed Battagliano: Yeah. And I may be. I may have dreamed it, you know, because sometimes I'll eat a bunch of pizza, then I'll fall right to sleep. So, So, is, nicely done.
Next Wednesday is my birthday. And actor is also going to have a birthday
So, Kurt, you didn't want to ask us one? well, Yeah, m. Well, next Wednesday is my birthday.
>> Ed Vitagliano: And, a famous stand up comedian.
>> Ed Battagliano: And actor is also going to have a birthday. I want. I'm gonna tell you his name, but.
>> Bert Harper: I want you to guess how old he'll be.
>> Ed Battagliano: Okay, tell us his name.
>> Bert Harper: Jimmy Walker.
>> Ed Battagliano: Dynamite. He is gonna be, 69 years old. I'm just throwing out a guess.
>> Bert Harper: I bet he's older than that.
>> Ed Vitagliano: Yeah, I'll say 75.
>> Bert Harper: I would. I'll go lay 80 just to.
>> Ed Battagliano: Okay.
>> Ed Vitagliano: Jesus.
>> Ed Battagliano: Would you say 75?
>> Bert Harper: Yeah.
>> Ed Battagliano: All right. How is he gonna be, Kurt? You and you and. And, and Jimmy, Walker. Kid Dynamite sharing a birthday.
>> Bert Harper: Yeah, I'll be 59, but he will be 76.
>> Ed Battagliano: Yeah, you get the prize.
>> Bert Harper: All right, let it go, Kirk. Hey, happy birthday. A week early, by the way.
>> Ed Battagliano: Happy birthday.
>> Ed Vitagliano: That's Right.
>> Bert Harper: Amen.
David: Do you know anybody from Kentucky? Do both questions
Well, listen, let's go to Kentucky. Do you know anybody from Kentucky?
>> Ed Vitagliano: there's some guy that we. We see periodically.
>> Bert Harper: Yeah. Okay. Well, let's see if this guy knows. Hey, David. Thank you for calling. Do you know somebody else? Kentucky? Yeah. Named J.J. i, listen to you.
>> Ed Battagliano: Guys quite often, so I know his.
>> Ed Vitagliano: Name, but I've never got the privilege to meet him.
>> Ed Battagliano: Hey, David, what part of Kentucky you in? I live in Bath County.
>> Ed Vitagliano: Owingsville, Kentucky.
>> Ed Battagliano: Yeah, I'm originally from, Montgomery County. Mount Sterling, the home of court dates. Yeah, I'm from Owensboro there in Western Kentucky. You ever get over there between Louisville and Paducah? Quite often. I, transport for a living, so, yes, I'm all over Kentucky. Yes, sir. Well, listen, you want to ask answer or do both? Do both. Which one you feel confident about? Make the bluegrass crowd.
>> Ed Vitagliano: Now the Andy Griffith question.
>> Bert Harper: Okay, here it is. Are you an Andy Griffith fan? David?
>> Ed Battagliano: I am.
>> Ed Vitagliano: I. Gentlemen, I called, dad.
>> Ed Battagliano: For a long time during his last.
>> Bert Harper: Days and stuff with. He loved Andy Griffiths guns, all that.
>> Ed Battagliano: So we set her up. We sit around and watch those type of shows. Okay, that's some good time to bond right there, watching Gunsmoke and Andy Griffin.
>> Bert Harper: When you watch it as long as I have, all you do is say, hey, Jen, come here. Wait for this line. Come here. Watch Barney's face.
>> Ed Battagliano: I mean, that's good stuff.
David: What is the name of the only department store in Mayberry
>> Bert Harper: Okay, here it is. And, David, what is the name of the only department store in Mayberry?
>> Ed Battagliano: I'm gonna go with Weavers.
>> Ed Vitagliano: Whoo.
>> Bert Harper: That is weavers. You remember Mr. Weaver's first name?
>> Ed Vitagliano: Ben Weaver, then. Oh, sorry. I didn't know.
>> Bert Harper: Hey.
>> Ed Battagliano: Yeah, well, that's the thing. I could remember that part, but I was, I was struggling, so I had to.
>> Ed Vitagliano: Look it up to make sure.
>> Bert Harper: Okay. The only Christmas show that the Andrew Griffith did was Ben Weaver and him wanting to throw some people in jail. you know, and. But he was. That picture of him hanging on to the bars at the. You know, the jail.
>> Ed Vitagliano: He was lonely.
>> Bert Harper: He was lonely. And so, anyway, finally, it's one of my favorite. it's one of my. It's in the top 10.
>> Ed Vitagliano: It'll like. Like Andy will say, it'll just clutch you.
>> Ed Battagliano: There's a deal. One of my favorite episodes of the Weaver store is what he had Mr. Whipple out there on that aisle squeezing that Charmin. I mean, you got it all rolled into one. You got Andy and Aunt Bee and Marty. There's Mr. Whipple squeezing that Charmin. In the Weaver store.
>> Ed Vitagliano: That's it.
>> Bert Harper: Way to go, David.
Who's the only man in the Bible to tell God to repent
Hey, you got a question for us?
>> Ed Vitagliano: Yes, I do.
>> Ed Battagliano: All right, this is a Bible question. who is the only man.
>> Ed Vitagliano: It's a two part.
>> Ed Battagliano: Who's the only man in the Bible to tell God to repent?
>> Ed Vitagliano: And during what situation did that happen or what event?
>> Bert Harper: I'm going to take a stab. You go first.
>> Ed Vitagliano: I'm going to say it's Moses. He asked God to change his mind about Elizabeth destroying Israel.
>> Bert Harper: That's what I'd say. Is that right, David?
>> Ed Battagliano: And no, he asked God to change his mind.
>> Ed Vitagliano: But, specifically to repent is. Well, that's what the word means.
>> Bert Harper: Yeah, the word.
>> Ed Vitagliano: It's.
>> Bert Harper: According to which verse? According to which version? You read about Moses? Go ahead.
>> Ed Battagliano: I was going with Abraham.
>> Ed Vitagliano: Abraham, Sodom.
>> Ed Battagliano: When he's making that negotiation, when he, ah, whittling down. Well, how about if this many are this many? And I'm sorry, I've already asked again, I don't want to be pushy, but what about if there's only this many? And then he said, well, can I. Please don't be mad, but can, you know, can I just go down the number there? So in that conversation, he said, will you repent of what you're going to do? So that's what you. You're saying, right, David?
>> Bert Harper: Good answer. David. Hey, thank you, brother.
>> Ed Battagliano: Yes, thanks for being in the word. Be careful out there, running up and down those roads of,
>> Ed Vitagliano: Amen.
>> Ed Battagliano: Kentucky, we get.
>> Bert Harper: We get a lot of calls on exploring the word from truckers. We, man, they're some of our heroes.
>> Ed Vitagliano: And they. And they are the. Just the backbone of our economy. They really are, really are get products from A to A to B, without which we don't eat.
>> Bert Harper: Hey, we found out the problem of, you know, products. Thank you, David.
Professor Vitagliano had a Bible question that I could try
Well, let's go to Virginia and talk to Mark. Mark, thank you for calling.
>> Ed Vitagliano: Hello, professors.
>> Bert Harper: Hello, Mark.
>> Ed Vitagliano: Hello, Mark, we got to ask you. Is the birdman. Hey, I don't hear the birds. What do you. You calling from outside?
>> Bert Harper: Oh, no, they're just, having a snack right now.
>> Ed Vitagliano: Oh, okay. Good. A good strategy. Good tactic there. Hey, Mark, you want to ask, answer. Do both, brother.
>> Bert Harper: Both, please.
>> Ed Vitagliano: All right, which one you want to try to answer?
>> Ed Battagliano: Well, my, any question that.
>> Bert Harper: I knew that I could answer has. Has been answered. And so I think that, Professor.
>> Ed Battagliano: Vitagliano had a Bible question that I could try.
>> Ed Vitagliano: Okay. I have two Bible questions. the first is when Solomon built the temple There were two tall pillars set up. What were their names? And then the other one was Lami. L A H M. I was the brother of what biblical villain? And as a, kind of a hint, there were five brothers in all.
>> Ed Battagliano: Okay, I'll answer that one.
>> Ed Vitagliano: All right.
>> Ed Battagliano: Okay. And it's Goliath.
>> Ed Vitagliano: Yes. Goliath is the villain.
>> Ed Battagliano: Nice.
>> Ed Vitagliano: I looked this up because Lami was the only brother of Goliath that was named. And that was in 1st Chronicles 20, verse 5.
>> Bert Harper: Is that the reason that David took five stones? Because he knew?
>> Ed Vitagliano: I've heard that. I've heard that.
>> Bert Harper: I don't know, but that sounds preaching.
>> Ed Battagliano: Some of the different, in some of the different battles, it'll say, and then a giant came out to. To meet him. And they. A giant from Gath. And then another one. A giant from Gath. And you count those up and you see, you know that they had the.
>> Ed Vitagliano: Yeah.
>> Ed Battagliano: He had those brothers.
>> Ed Vitagliano: Yeah. Hey, good job on that, Mark. did you know it without the hint, or did I have to? The hint really help?
>> Ed Battagliano: well, the idea of asking who was the brother of some bad guy in the Bible, made me think of Goliath. Okay, good.
What is a Hemi demi semi quaver? We're stumped
What's your question for us? so my question for you is, what is a Hemi demi semi quaver? I had one one time in a Mopar, you get a Dodge, and you get a Hemi semi quaver crowfire, and you can lay rubber for a country mile. I mean, it don't matter if you got a cam in it or not, or if it's a straight shift or what kind of rear ends under that thing. You got that much horsepower, and everybody, all your neighbors are going to hear you when you take off.
>> Bert Harper: Yeah.
>> Ed Battagliano: And that Hemi engine, that's it.
>> Bert Harper: That's it.
>> Ed Battagliano: People, pull up beside you, roll down the window. Is that a Hemi semi cammy, you say? Yes, it is. Hey, Mark, what is that?
>> Bert Harper: Mark, is it an engine?
>> Ed Battagliano: No, it's not. I think it has something to do with knitting. Like when you, knit one, purl two. No, I'm just throwing something crazy out there. I have absolutely no idea. I have no idea.
>> Bert Harper: I have no idea.
>> Ed Battagliano: We're stumped, buddy. What's the answer? Okay, so a Hemi demi semiquaver in music is a 64th note. Oh.
>> Bert Harper: way down the line. No wonder we didn't know it. I might have called the 63rd, but the 64th, no way.
>> Ed Battagliano: None of us. You can tell we weren't in the band. None of us could be boys.
>> Ed Vitagliano: Hey, thanks, Mark. We appreciate it. You have a great weekend. And, try to stay a little cool as things heat up here. First day of summer.
>> Bert Harper: And watch for the birds. Watch for the birds.
>> Ed Battagliano: They missed a good chance to put horsepower on into that sentence there.
>> Bert Harper: They did.
Alex McFarland: Tom, we had twins on the way
Hey, let's go to Iowa and talk to Tom. Tom, thank you for calling.
>> Ed Battagliano: Good morning.
>> Ed Vitagliano: Thanks for having me.
>> Bert Harper: Great. Hey, Alex McFarland, the co. Host of Exploring the Word, was just out in Iowa for his youth meeting, and, he. He said I was fine. What part Iowa were you from?
>> Ed Battagliano: I am in northeast Iowa. Probably, 20 minutes, 12 minutes from the Minnesota border.
>> Bert Harper: Oh, wow.
>> Ed Vitagliano: Okay, Tom.
>> Ed Battagliano: I was talking about this activate summit that we had in Tupelo, Mississippi. And, we met people, several families from Iowa. Yeah, we met, handful of families from Missouri, lot of people from Ohio and a lot of people.
>> Ed Vitagliano: There's a family from Oregon, too.
>> Ed Battagliano: Oh, yeah, we met the folks from Oregon and spent some time, you know, had a great visit with them. Well, what part of, What part of Iowa did you say, Tom? Northeast. Okay, you want to ask answer or do both, sir.
>> Ed Vitagliano: I'll do both, please.
>> Ed Battagliano: Which one you want to answer? I'll answer the one about the names of the pillars in King Solomon.
>> Ed Vitagliano: All right, well, great. When Solomon. Listen, I'm just, Yeah, I'm psyched here. When Solomon built the temple, there were two tall pillars set up. What were their names? Jacob and Boaz. That is correct. That was a question from Cindy Roberts a couple of weeks ago.
>> Ed Battagliano: So we were. My wife and I, we had twins on the way and everybody on Facebook. Well, what. What are you naming them? And I learned from, you know, having five daughters. And everybody you tell, even a friend or a cousin or a neighbor, you tell them your baby name a little too soon. They have their baby a couple of months before you, they'll steal the name. So I said, well, I can't do this on national radio or on social media. So I said, yeah, we've already got names picked out. You know, when people are asking. I said, we're gonna. Since they're twins, we're gonna name them Copy and Paste. Well, some people were gullible. The others, they saw, that, you know, that's. You know, you just expect crazy. That's right. I said, yeah. And we're naming our twins Copy and Paste. One of the sweet nurses, AFR listener, got us little onesies with Copy. Yes, Copy and Paste. And we put those. We put our twins in Those little. When they were in the. In the crib, you know, the little newborn or the little preemie onesie, things. But it had copy and paste on that that our listeners are the best.
>> Ed Vitagliano: Oh, yeah.
>> Bert Harper: Hey, that is true.
>> Ed Vitagliano: Hey, Tom, did you have to look that up, or did you know that I actually read it yesterday in First Kings?
>> Ed Battagliano: Wow. And who knew you're reading that yesterday? You had no idea you got, Bible readers. That's right.
>> Ed Vitagliano: I tell you what, I'm just so impressed that you not only read that and remembered it. We're sending you a ball cap.
>> Ed Battagliano: Yes. Hey, and look, Tom, I don't want to try to be super spiritual here, but God's timing, I mean, in big ways and little ways. Because here you're reading that, you say, well, I'm not going to get anything out of that. That's just something I'm kind of read on through that. And then here you are, national radio, and just like, I just read that, you know, I think when those little things happen, I don't think they're a coincidence.
>> Bert Harper: I think God, he wanted him to have this ball.
>> Ed Battagliano: Yeah, like, I like that.
>> Bert Harper: Stay, sir.
What is the longest highway in the United States
Hey, you got a question for us?
>> Ed Vitagliano: I do.
>> Ed Battagliano: what is the longest highway in.
>> Ed Vitagliano: The United States from east to west?
>> Ed Battagliano: What town does it start in and.
>> Ed Vitagliano: What town does it end in?
>> Ed Battagliano: Where is Tim when we need him? Yeah, he would. Absolutely.
Tim: Tom, what's the loneliest road in America
>> Ed Vitagliano: All right, we're gonna talk amongst ourselves here.
>> Ed Battagliano: So you may know.
>> Bert Harper: I don't know. I think it's 90. is that up north? Yeah, because it starts out, I think, on the western seaboard and goes all the way and dips down and goes.
>> Ed Vitagliano: You think it goes all the way to Maine or, Maine, one of.
>> Bert Harper: The New England states, if I remember.
>> Ed Battagliano: Really?
>> Bert Harper: Which?
>> Ed Battagliano: Let's go with 90. Do you have a better guess?
>> Ed Vitagliano: No, no, I think that. I think that's right, because I think it was in the north.
>> Bert Harper: Yeah. and you look at it, it goes. You know, when you start 10, it's pretty long. But they joined together, and then others joined together, like 50 and 70.
>> Ed Battagliano: Right.
>> Bert Harper: but 80 and 90, I think it's not.
>> Ed Vitagliano: So what would you say maybe Seattle to.
>> Bert Harper: I'd say Seattle to Portland, Maine. And just say it that way. I don't know.
>> Ed Battagliano: See? How do. How did brother Burt do, Tom? Okay, I'll give you a hint.
>> Ed Vitagliano: It's not an interstate.
>> Ed Battagliano: It's a highway. Oh, thanks for making it clear.
>> Ed Vitagliano: Well, but that's.
>> Ed Battagliano: Now, is it going to be Route 66 now?
>> Bert Harper: It starts in Missouri, I think, and goes that.
>> Ed Vitagliano: Well, it doesn't, it doesn't have to be the up north.
>> Bert Harper: Yeah.
>> Ed Vitagliano: I don't, I don't know.
>> Ed Battagliano: We're stumped.
>> Ed Vitagliano: Tim. I know the.
>> Bert Harper: I know the loneliest road in America.
>> Ed Battagliano: What is that?
>> Bert Harper: Highway 50. and it starts in California. I've traveled it all the way.
>> Ed Battagliano: Have you really?
>> Bert Harper: Yeah, man.
>> Ed Battagliano: Goes from where to where?
>> Bert Harper: Well, we got on it in Nevada, Carson City, Nevada. And we went on all this.
>> Ed Vitagliano: Let's go with that.
>> Ed Battagliano: Why are you saying it's the loneliest road?
>> Bert Harper: If you traveled it, you'd know it. Have you ever watched Wagon Train, the show? You know when they're going through and there's no water?
>> Ed Battagliano: Right.
>> Bert Harper: That's, that's what they did back and it was tough. Go, Tom, what's the answer?
>> Ed Battagliano: Okay, it's Highway 20.
>> Ed Vitagliano: It starts in Boston, Massachusetts, and it ends in Newport, Oregon.
>> Bert Harper: Wow.
>> Ed Vitagliano: Now, is it, is that a two lane or, have they widened it or what?
>> Ed Battagliano: Well, I'm not sure where it goes through Iowa is mostly four lane. Okay.
>> Ed Vitagliano: All right.
>> Ed Battagliano: Yeah. Wow, that's a great trivia.
>> Ed Vitagliano: That is.
>> Ed Battagliano: Hey, now, Tom, are you a trucker?
>> Ed Vitagliano: I'm a state trooper.
>> Ed Battagliano: State trooper, yeah. So you know about that. Hey, thank you.
>> Bert Harper: Can we use your name when we're going through Iowa?
>> Ed Battagliano: Hey, thanks for how you, serve and how you protect and serve and.
>> Ed Vitagliano: Tom, stay on the line. We're going to put you on hold. Cindy, Roberts will get your information and we'll get you that AFR ball cap. And when you're not doing your job, you can wear the ball cap. You're not wearing your troopers hat.
Tim Wildman's mother in law passed away on Sunday
>> Ed Battagliano: Hey, guys, the music's playing. I want to say, Tim Wildmon, his wonderful mother in law, passed away. Brenda Harden, married to Jim for 44 years. Allison, Russ and Leslie pray for the Wildmon family. An amazing.
>> Ed Vitagliano: And the Hardens.
>> Ed Battagliano: Yes. And the hard. An amazing woman. we all three knew her for decades and, she's going to be missed.
>> Ed Vitagliano: All right, folks, five minute break for new. We will be right back. The views and opinions expressed in this.
>> Ed Battagliano: Broadcast may not necessarily reflect those of the American Family association or American Family Radio.
