Arizona passed an election integrity law in 2022 that simply said in order to register to vote registrants have to demonstrate that they are U.S. citizens and that voters must prove citizenship in order to vote by mail. A group called Mi Familia Vota sued to prevent the law from taking effect.

The Unites States Supreme Court upheld the voter registration portion of AZ’s law by a 5-4 vote. This case demonstrates the thin edge our nation is teetering on currently. Limiting the voting franchise to U.S. citizens has become controversial.
