Pastor Jeff Schreve: Well, good Monday morning and welcome to Real Truth for today. Pastor Jeff Schrieve. Here I am back from a week in Washington, D.C. we left last Sunday morning on the 11th of October and, drove from Texarkana to, love Dallas, Love Field, and flew out to Washington D.C. traveled without a hitch. I mean, we didn't have any bad traffic, nothing glitched us at all. The plane took off on time. We landed without any, rigmarole or difficulty. You know, air travel is always kind of a roll of the dice. You, things can get delayed and that type of thing. But it was wonderful, just a great week there. I had never spent, any time like that in D.C. i had gone in 2016, I got invited to a pastor's briefing at the White House and went to that, but didn't get to see any of the, monuments and things. I was just there, I think one night, two nights, something like that. And, just was there at the White House and then flew back. But this was an opportunity to see the Washington Monument, Lincoln Monument, the, World War II monument, the Vietnam Memorial, World War II memorial, Vietnam Memorial, Korean, memorial. It was just amazing going to Mount Vernon where George Washington had his big plantation. So it was just a tremendous time and glad to be back. Appreciate Alex McFarland for sitting in for me on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. And I hope you enjoyed the interviews we did with George Barna on Monday and then Pat Boone on Tuesday. That was, exciting for me to get to talk to Pat Boone. What an icon. He is 92 years old, still sharp as attack. And as I had mentioned to him, I said, Pat, you, you're probably one of the few guys in the world that have this, this breadth of people. You have known, famous people, you have known over the years, from Elvis to President Reagan to Donald Trump, you know, just, just goes, back so far. And it was really, really cool. So if you haven't gotten a chance to see that, you can go on YouTube or afr.net, you can watch that interview that I did with Pat Boone. Talked about his life and just all the things that God has done for him. Well, the big news, everybody's talking about, what is going on in France. So they had the protest Saturday, October 17, Saturday. And it was mostly peaceful protest. If you hear from cnn, they said that, numbers are, you know, estimates, but anywhere from 500 to 500,000 to 800,000 protested. And what were they protesting? Ah, school conditions, cost of living, fuel prices, public services, maybe a smokescreen for other things. But that was what was stated that they were upset about in France. And ah, as is often the case, these quote unquote, peaceful protests turn violent and the riots, the protests turn into riots and looting and vandalism and violence and burning down buildings and attacking the police. The report said about 1,000 police and emergency personnel were injured and rest were around 18 to 2,400 people. And you got to remember something about France. And I'm going to bring this up. I watched a little, expose by Victor Davis Hansen of the Daily Signal. I like Victor Davis Hanson. He's a voice of wisdom as he looks at things and then backs up and says, okay, let's pull out. you can get so focused that you can't see the forest for the trees. So he pulls out and he says what is going on in France? Because France is a warning, sign to us in America. And he talks about the four horsemen of the Western civilization. Apocalypse now. That's a play on the four horsemen of the Apocalypse from, Revelation chapter six. And so this is what he says, this is what's going on in France and this is the message that we need to take in America. These are self inflicted wounds, these four horsemen, self inflicted wounds that are destroyed, destroying, Eastern Europe, France and Eastern Europe. Number one, he says green madness. What does he mean by that? Well, it's all these climate change, folks that are like, hey, we got to get on Clean energy, wind and solar. We got to get away from oil and coal and nuclear power. And so we're just going with wind and solar. That's the way to do it. That's clean energy and that's the future and blah, blah, blah, because we got to reduce our carbon footprint. And so what he says, what does that end up doing? Well, that is so much more expensive. So fuel prices, energy prices in France are three to four times what they are in America. He said. So it's green madness. It makes you totally uncompetitive, it's unreliable, as an energy source and it's three to four times more expensive. So it makes absolutely no sense. Listen, you've heard me say before, climate change is a hoax. God controls the climate. We are not going to be able to bring about the destruction of planet Earth because we are building a nuclear plant or a new coal plant or a new oil refinery. That's just ridiculous. And so all these people, and if you look and see all the predictions and all the alarmists, as they have been announcing for decades and decades and decades and decades, it never comes to pass, all the things that they say, oh, in this year we're going to be underwater, these things are going to happen. That's going to happen. It's global catastrophe. as Aoc said a few years ago, you know, the Earth is going to come to an end in 12 years. I think she said that 12, five years ago or so. so we just have a few years left. It's ridiculous. You read the book of the Revelation, God controls the climate. And when, the seals are broken, when the trumpets sound, when the bowls of wrath are poured out, the climate really takes a hit. But it's God doing that, not man. So he mentions green madness. That's a self inflicted wound. That's the first horseman of the apocalypse of Western civilization, the second one he mentions. And this all goes to what we're seeing in France. Borders, open borders. Bringing in people into your country with values and morals and ideals that don't fit your culture at all. And these are not people that want to assimilate into your culture. They're bringing their culture with them. They're going to impress upon you to be like them. And that's what you have with all these Muslim immigrants coming in now, In France, about 10%, 8 to 10% of the population is Muslim. And France has a population of 68 million people. So about six and a half million of those people are Muslims, you say, well, you know, we don't want to be Islamophobic. Well, here's the thing, just the brutal facts. Muslims don't assimilate. They don't play ball with the country they're coming into. They're coming in to take over. They're coming in to bring Sharia law, as that one Muslim said. you Americans, you don't understand this. Islam is not a religion. Islam has a religion, but it's not a religion. Islam is a total way of life. It's a governmental system that has a religion. Your house has a kitchen. It's not a kitchen, but it has a kitchen. And that is the same way with Islam. it is a total, way of life, including the religious aspect, but it's, a governmental aspect. And it's totally incompatible with Western civilization. It's totally incompatible with the American way of life. It's totally incompatible with the Bible. It's totally incompatible with the U.S. constitution. And we're getting ready, in these midterms, you know, in Michigan where El Said is, running. He's a Muslim and he has terrorist ties in his family. And what do you, what do you find? Barack Obama, is campaigning for El Said, AOC is campaigning for this guy. Well, that guy, his mindset, his focus, his value system is totally contrary to the U.S. constitution. I don't care what he may say on the campaign trail. That is, he's a Muslim first and foremost, just like Zoran Mamdani is a Muslim first and foremost. They're a Muslim, Marxist, a Muslim socialist. But the Muslim is all in caps and embolden, in print, bold print. And the socialists is, you know, that's in small letters. That's so that they can team up with the progressives. And as we have said repeatedly in recent history, 1979 in Iran, what did you have? You had the Rick Green alliance, you had the Muslims teaming up with the progressives, with the Marxists. The Muslims and the Marxists, they overthrow the Shah and then Islam takes power and then kills the Marxists. And so that's what they have in Iran, today. And it's a disaster. It is horrible for the masses. And I preached yesterday, started a three week series on religion and politics. That's what I'm calling the series, Religion and Politics. And some people are, oh, you shouldn't, shouldn't talk about that. Don't talk about anything related to politics. Don't. That's going to split the church. Country's already in trouble and there's so much split in the country. So don't bring that into the church. Well, we must talk about that in the church because politics, is encroaching on the biblical morality that we are called to preach and called to uphold and called to speak the truth in love. And you know, politics deals with abortion. That is a life issue. That is a sixth commandment issue. Thou shalt not murder. And we best speak out on that. We have issues related to, gender, the transgender insanity. That's a biblical issue. That's a Genesis, chapter one issue. He made them male and female. this idea, well, you know, as Talarico said, God is non binary and that Jesus is a radical feminist and we need to, he's bringing Jesus in there. We need to speak the truth about who Jesus is. We need to speak the truth about, God being our father. Jesus said, when you pray, say our Father Father is a masculine, term. Jesus was a man, the God man. And so this idea, you know, God is non binary. Well, I get the idea that, that God is spirit, but he just convolutes things. That guy is, he is theological poison. He calls himself a Christian and yet he says he hates Christianity. That doesn't make sense at all. So what is, all that saying? We have an issue. The foreign self inflicted wounds. We got the first one, Greene Madness. The second one, this is according to Victor Davis Hanson, the second one, borders. You let all these people come in that have all these, different ideas and all these Muslims come in and they want to take over, you're going to lose your country. Think about it in these terms. If you have a little league baseball team and you let all these guys come on the team that want the team to lose, we're going to purposely throw the game so the team loses so we can take over the team. You would be, an absolute moron to let those guys on the team. You can't do that. Either you're going to be on the team and for the team or you got to get off the bus. I remember saying that in the church. I said, you know, you can't have a church filled with people that are going against the direction of the church. You have to have people. We have to pull together to fulfill God's will and directive for his church. So Greene Madness borders. We have two more that we're going to talk about when we come back from the break. Jeff Chamblee: This is real truth for today. Podcasts of the program are available on the podcast [email protected] now back to Pastor Jeff Schrieve.
Pastor Jeff Schreve: Welcome back to the program. Pastor Jeff here. So I told you I kicked off a series yesterday at First Baptist Church in Texarkana, Texas. Religion and politics. And so I, I started this series in Jeremiah, chapter 29, God's word to the exiles. You know, Nebuchadnezzar came in three different times into Jerusalem. Jerusalem is the capital city, was the capital city of Judah, the nation Judah and the 10 tribes in the nation Israel. The northern kingdom, remember, there was a split after Solomon his son Rehoboam, the kingdom split, 10 tribes went to the north and they set up their capital in Samaria. And the two tribes, Judah and Benjamin, stayed where they were. They became the southern kingdom with the capital city in Jerusalem. the ten tribes of the northern kingdom became idolatrous very, very quickly. And they were eventually wiped out by the Assyrians in 722 B.C. there was intermarriage. That's how the Assyrians, when they would conquer you, they would mingle in other people. They would take you, to different places and you would intermingle and you would lose your distinctiveness. Jew not supposed to marry outside of other Jews, outside of the faith. And, so then we run into the Samaritans in the NewSong Testament. And the Jews have no dealings with Samaritans because they viewed them as corrupted, because they were half breeds and they were half Jew, half Gentile. So the southern kingdom, they saw the idolatry. In the northern kingdom, they saw what happened to Israel. They saw that they got destroyed by the Assyrians. In 722 B.C. the, lost 10 tribes. Tribes of Israel, as it is referred to. Well, the two tribes, Judah and Benjamin, they didn't learn from that. And they went idolatrous. And God brought Nebuchadnezzar. He calls Nebuchadnezzar my servant. He brings Nebuchadnezzar, a pagan guy, as Erwin Lutzer likes to say, Donald Trump is a lot like King Nebuchadnezzar, stuffed full of himself. But God calls Nebuchadnezzar my servant. He uses Nebuchadnezzar. And I believe Nebuchadnezzar gets saved in Daniel chapter four. But he uses Nebuchadnez. Discipline Israel. And he comes in three different times. First time is 605 BC he slaps Israel around, or Judah. He slaps them around. He subjugates them. Now you're under the control of Babylon. And he takes back captives, about 3,000. Among those captives, Daniel and his three friends, Hananiah, Azariah and Mishael. Those are their Jewish names. We know them better by their Babylonian names, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. And so those guys go back to Babylon, 605 BC he comes back in 597 BC because they're not, they're kind of, you know, bucking the system, so to speak. And Nebuchadnezzar is like, you're not going to do that. He comes back there, slaps them around some more, takes back more captives. That's called the second deportation. 597 BC took back about 10,000 nobles and officials. And then he comes back in, in 586 B.C. because they're bucking the system again. He said, that's it. And he, he besieges the city, wipes it out, breaks down the wall, destroys Solomon's temple. And if you want to know how bad it was, you read the book of, Lamentations. Jeremiah the prophet wrote the book of Lamentations. And it's, him just pouring out buckets of tears and lamenting over the fall of Jerusalem. And it all came about because of their idolatry, because of their rebellion, because they refused to repent and follow the Lord. Well, he says in chapter 29 of Jerem, Jeremiah, he says to the exiles, this is about 593 B.C. so the second group has gone to Babylon. And now you have with the first group, second group added together, you get about 15,000 people there, Jews. And he says what the false prophets are telling them, hey, listen, God is ready to break the yoke of the Babylonians. You're getting ready to come back to Jerusalem, so, pack your bags because it's coming, coming. And the Lord said, no, that's not right. Those guys are false prophets. Jeremiah, this is what you tell them. And so the Bible says, thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, to all the exiles whom I have sent into exile from Jerusalem to Babylon. Build houses and live in them and plant gardens and eat their produce. Take wives and become the fathers of sons and daughters, and take wives for your sons and give your daughters to husbands that they may bear sons and daughters and multiply there and do not decrease. Seek the welfare of the city where I have sent you. Seek the shalom of the city where I have sent you into exile and pray to the Lord on its behalf, for in its welfare you will have welfare. Hey, seek is a proactive word. It's not a reactive word. It's being, intentional. On. I'm going to do things in this city where the Lord has sent me, even though this is not my home. An exile here, but I'm going to be here a while. They were going to be there from the time they heard from Jeremiah. they were going to be there 55 years. That's a long time. Well, you know, the parallels are very similar to where we are today. Our citizenship is in heaven, we belong to the Lord and we're twice born men living in a world of once born men. And he has saved us out of this world and sent us back to this world to be a witness in this world world and to seek for the welfare of the city. Now one of the ways you do that is by engaging in the political process because politics affects the welfare of the city and the politics as we're talking about France, the politics in France affect the shalom, the peace, the contentment, the happiness of the people in France. So you let in all these people that don't have the same value system, that worship a false God, that reject the God of the Bible. Tucker Carlsen likes To say, well, you know who loves Jesus? Muslims. They love Jesus. Yeah, they love Jesus. The Jesus they have created out of their own imagination. as Paul said, you believe in another Jesus whom we have not preached. So they create this other Jesus who is not God in the flesh. The Jesus of the Bible is God in the flesh. And so I create this fictitious Jesus and say, wow, I love that Jesus. Oh wonderful, great. Well, that Jesus doesn't exist. He's the Easter bunny. He's Santa Claus. He doesn't exist. And so the real God and the real Jesus is the Lord of glory. And every knee shall bow and every tongue shall confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father. That's the real Jesus. He's going to, he's King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Well that's not the Jesus of Islam. So he let all these people in and then guess what? You have not welfare for the masses, you have misery for the masses. And God is saying to Christians, especially to us today in America, hey, you are to seek for the welfare. What is going to bring, good and flourishing to the masses, to the people. You don't vote in elections just for what is going to help me. We have people that do that all the time. We have the Democrat Party that says, well we're going to give you money. If you vote for us, we will give you money and we will give you welfare. And the Republicans want to take away your welfare and so keep voting for us. I like what Elon Musk said. I ran across this meme yesterday. Elon Musk said this. If you take $500 from a worker and give $100 to five lazy people, you lose one vote, but gain five if the biggest pyramid, it's the biggest pyramid scheme in history and it's called socialism. And that's what the left wants to do. They want to bring socialism. And so you have these people marching in France. We want free stuff and things are too expensive. And so let's take from the rich and it's the same old story. So back to Victor Davis Hanson. He said the four horsemen of the Western civilization Apocalypse. Ah, what are these self inflicted wounds, Greene madness. Climate change, get away from that which is proven, that which is relatively inexpensive coal and oil and nuclear power plants. And we're just going to go solar and wind and we're going to be totally uncompetitive because it's so expensive. Three to four times that energy, cost times what they are in the United States. Number two, open borders. Just bring in all these people and people that don't fit, people that won't assimilate, people that have their own agenda, people that want to take over. That is just suicide. Number three, he talked about, a low fertility rate. You know, if you're not what we have in America, you know, one side of the political aisle is all for abortion. Let's keep murdering babies. We've murdered over 70 million babies. Well, that's 70 million that would be added to the, workforce. And that makes a difference. You start killing off all your, your young ones, well, you're in trouble. China's in trouble because of a, low fertility, you know, that eventually catches up with you. Well, he talks about that for France and in Europe in general. One point, the birth fertility rate, 1.4. And he says in US it's not much better. 1.6. Well, that's unsustainable. Eventually you run out. You have too many older people and not enough younger people to keep that going. So it's a looming pension crisis. And then number four, he said, buying into dei, diversity, equity and inclusion. And it's the reverse of the Martin Luther King dream that my four little children will be judged by the content of their character, not the color of their skin. DEI is all about the color of a person's skin. And you treat people, differently if they're white skinned versus if they're dark skinned. And dark skinned people get special treatment and they get wrist slaps in court and things like that. He said, you can't. That doesn't work. You got to go back to meritocracy. You got to go back to a system that rewards hard work. And, as Elon Musk said, you can't take money from the hard working guy and give it to the lazy person and expect that to be a program that will bring about the welfare of the city, the good for the masses, the happiness and contentment and peace and shalom. it's not going to do that. It's going to do the opposite. So he says this can be reversed, but you have to start, you have to throw the green new deal out the window. You have to say, we're going to get back to common sense and we're going to get back to, coal and oil and nuclear power. We're going to kick these people out that are not part of the team. We're going to lock down the borders as President Trump did, pretty much from day one. When he was elected, we're going to start encouraging couples to have children. We're going to give incentives for them to have children, and then we're going to throw diversity, equity, inclusion out the door. And that is the way that you try and reverse this trend, this trend that leads off a cliff. I mentioned yesterday and I've talked about it on the radio. But, you know, you have these people that call themselves Christians, whether they're Christians or not. some of them probably are, and some of them probably aren't. I mean, Talarico calls himself a Christian. He is not a Christian based on the Bible's definition of what a Christian is. I mean, he doesn't believe that Jesus is the way, the truth and the life, and no one comes to the Father, but through him. He doesn't believe in the exclusivity of the Gospel. He doesn't believe that his pastor said, she doesn't even know if Jesus even ever existed. That's his pastor. good night. Who would go to a church? Like, if you're a real Christian, you don't go to that church. And as somebody pointed out is very insightful. If James Talarico were a true Christian, the Democrats would not support him. And that is undeniably true. A true Christian doesn't support abortion. A true Christian doesn't support transgender rights. True Christian doesn't support open borders. Because that hurts people. That doesn't help people. We lock our doors at night. Don't you lock your doors at night? Why do you do that? Because you hate all the people that live outside your house? No, because you love the people in your house.
Caroline: House.
Pastor Jeff Schreve: And you want to make sure that you keep those people safe that are in your house. And you only let people into your house that, you believe are going to be safe for the house and for your children that live in the house. So, here's the thing that we, need to remember if we're going to seek the welfare of the city, if we're going to respond to that word from the Lord. Because we are exiles. We're strangers and aliens, exiles and sojourners here on this earth. but if we want what's best for the people who live here, God's word, God's will, and God's ways, that always brings love, joy, and peace. Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it. Unless the Lord guards the city, the watchmen keep awake in vain. And so we want what is best for people. What is best for people is God's to go God's way, to have God's laws that govern 90. According to David Barton, almost 95% of the founding fathers were Christians. They were unashamedly Christian. They were followers of Jesus Christ. They believed the Bible. They believed that Jesus was the son of God. They weren't, opposed to politics. They were in it because they wanted to seek a, more perfect union. They wanted to seek the welfare of the city. We need to do the same. Hey, politics affects the welfare of the city. And almost everything in politics has a moral component in it. And we need to be involved in the that because we need to, seek the welfare of the city and to pray for the welfare of the city because in its welfare we find welfare. You know, why do people want to come to America? Because it's a place of opportunity, the land of opportunity and the land where you can flourish and the land where hard work is rewarded, as Dinesh d' Souza says. I'm an example, example of that. Ted Cruz, an example of that, comes from Cuba with his family. And, God has blessed him because there was opportunity. Were you listening to Real Truth for today? Pastor Jeff Schrieve here. Jeff Chamblee: If you'd like to contact Pastor Jeff, email Pastor Jeff from his. Now back to Real Truth for today with Pastor Jeff Schrieve.
Pastor Jeff Schreve: Welcome back to the program. Pastor Jeff here. And, as is our custom, we like to reserve this third segment to hear from our listeners. The phone number to call is 8885-8988-4088-8589-8840. If you have a question or comment. Love to hear from you. We've been talking about what's going on in France and what is, as you back up, what is the bigger picture? Obviously you've, no doubt seen that's taking place in France, the burning of, historic buildings and people, upset, police officers getting hurt by the hundreds. They said a thousand police and emergency personnel have been injured, People throwing rocks, at police cars, looting, smashing in, windows and getting into stores and taking what you want. And all the terrible things, the violence and the, terrible things of vandalism that goes along with the peaceful protests. And they're upset. And what are they upset about? Well, it's the red green alliance that they kind of fuel one another. And they're upset about, supposedly just the cost of things. Things cost too much. School conditions are bad, cost of living is bad, Fuel prices are bad, public services are bad. We don't like the way things are being run in par. So we're going to destroy, everything. And that is typical. I mean, we had that in, some of those major cities. Seattle comes to mind. Minnesota comes to mind. Poorly run cities tend to have those kind of issues. And you know, it's funny, I was with Bill Federer, Dr. Bill Federer, in, Washington D.C. and he said something to me I hadn't thought about before, but he was talking about crime in major, cities. And he said the Democrats want to have crime in cities. That's why you have these liberal judges that, they get a criminal before them in court and they, they reduce the sentence, they slap the wrist, they get them back on the street as fast as possible. We have no bail. you know, situations in cities where, you know, hey, we're just going to turn you back out. And why, why would they want that?
Caroline: That?
Pastor Jeff Schreve: Well, according to Bill Federer, he said it's a common sheet off the playbook because then you drive out the middle class, you drive out the merchant. And they say we can't be here because it's not safe. And so then they leave the city. And then the city is just taken over by welfare recipients, by people who are on the dole and the, government dole. And then the Democrats own that city. And that's what we have. We see that in Chicago. You think their mayor is that interested in solving the crime problem? No, in other major Baltimore, other major cities where it's unsafe and so then folks leave and then they control the city. bottom line is if we're going to seek the welfare of the city, we got to vote and we have to pray. So we pray for the welfare of the city. We know that we have, have, the problems in America are spiritual problems. And we've rejected God. We said no to his word. We've said no to his will. We've said no to his ways. We want to do it our way. We're Romans. Chapter one. And when you say no to God, God says, all right, well, I'll turn you over to your own devices. And, you can, see how well that goes for you. And we're experiencing that. Experiencing that in Europe, experiencing that in America. Doesn't go well. It goes horribly wrong. Just as it did in Israel. When they would worship the false gods, what would happen? They would get subjugated, read the Book of Judges and see what happens when you go, as the King James puts it, a, whoring after other gods. It doesn't go well for the masses when that happens, and we are to seek the welfare of the masses. Well, we have, David on the line from Florida. David. David. Welcome to Real Truth for today.
Caroline: good morning, Pastor. Thank you for your show. It's something we look forward to other than coffee.
Pastor Jeff Schreve: Thanks, man.
Caroline: That being said, you know, it's like a dual. It's like a parallel universe we're living in. We've got these people that they don't want to upset the apple cart. It's like the Germans during World War II. They turned up the music so they couldn't hear the Jews screaming on the way to the gas chamber. And then we've got people that are just, here in Florida, every corner every weekend is just full of Democrats saying, put President Trump in jail. Impeach. Go after, take over. And it's. It's just something crazy about it that I just can't get my head around. And then this morning, as I'm jumping around, I heard on Dutch sheets, it's like where Bonhoeffer said, silence in the face of evil is evil itself. And the American people have got to wake up. I mean, there was Christians in my church with Obama's first term, and they all voted for him, even though they knew he was for abortion and gay marriage. They didn't care. They wanted a new pretty face, something different just to go along, to get along. We got to stop going along to get along. We got to draw a line in the sand like Shamma. We got to start fighting the enemy, Right?
Pastor Jeff Schreve: I couldn't agree more, David. So, I have a clip. We're going to play this in just a moment from, Rosaria Butterfield. And, she speaks to the fact that churches. Why are not churches, saying something and standing up? I think more of them are, and that is good. We had President, Willie Rice, the president of the Southern Baptist Convention. He was on Fox News, and he said, yes, churches and pastors need to speak out. on these midterm elections. And they need to encourage their people to vote and to vote for biblical values. You know, we say, well, vote values. Whose values? We have to vote for the values that are found in scripture. God is obviously not for abortion. And if a candidate is all in for abortion, major red flag. God is not for the gender mutilation, and chemical castration of children, of impressionable children. God forbid that you would vote for a candidate that would be for that. And here's a little life hack. I mentioned this yesterday. If your candidate can't define the word woman, and if your political party that you're getting ready to vote for can't define the word woman, right there, you know, this is a person. This is an Isaiah 5:20 situation. Woe to those who call good evil and evil good. that person's moral compass has broken. We have candidates, on the right that have junk in their lives and things in their lives that are bad. They're not great candidates. I, mentioned this yesterday in church that, you know, we don't have Daniel on the ballot. Daniel in Daniel, chapter six. His enemies tried to find some dirt on Daniel. They couldn't find it because he was such an upstanding person. So they said, the only way we can get Daniel is if it's something related to his commitment to his God. But we don't have candidates like that. And so you have people like Ken Paxton where people can shoot, a lot of bullets at him and they would stick. We have Donald Trump. He's got a lot of things in his, A lot of skeletons in his closet, so to speak. A lot of things in his personal life you say, well, that doesn't match up. I don't like this about him. But both of those guys don't have a broken moral compass. They know the difference between good and evil. They know the difference between who is a victim and who is a criminal. And the left doesn't have that. And you cannot vote for someone who has a broken moral compass. And so I appreciate, the call, David, and I agree with you 100%. Well, let's go to, Mark. He's a brand new listener out of, Grand Haven, Michigan. Mark, welcome to Real Truth for today.
Caroline: Thank you. my question, kind of like the gentleman just before me kind of stole a little bit of my thunder. As far as silence in the face of evil is itself evil.
Pastor Jeff Schreve: Mm
Caroline: God will not hold him guiltless. Not to speak is to speak, not to act. Is to act.
Pastor Jeff Schreve: Mm.
Caroline: Our churches. I, in fact, I had that same quote. We had a guest pass, just, the other day. And I told him, I says I'm at my wits end. The church is just so silent. I'm a member of, Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod. Always considered very conservative, solid throughout the Bible. But the Bible talks about all this evil. You know, we've got, like you said, abortion. We've got transgenderism, mutilation surgery. We've got, homosexuality. The church gave up on that, I think a long time ago. And, we've got indoctrination of children. It's over and over. Until just a couple days ago when I happened to just come across your station. I thought there was only a few Christian stations in this area. And I started hearing this about politics, you know, I mean, and how the church, the Bible, you know, from one end to the other, you know, there's politics, it's the. It's life, you know, you can't really get around it as far as. And sometimes I get so frustrated that I can't even think straight. But, it's just. I just don't understand it. I went to my pastor and he's great, very intelligent, far more than I. He knows Bible inside and out. But our whole synod, its stance is we will not get political.
Jeff Chamblee: Yeah.
Pastor Jeff Schreve: So I want to play this clip from Rosaria Butterfield. She was the, staunch feminist lesbian who came to Christ, I think in the early 2000s and has been a solid, voice for conservative Christianity ever since. This is what she had to say concerning this, issue that we're talking about, Mark, with churches, not speaking out. So this is Rosaria Butterfield.
Speaker G: You cannot be a soft presence here in Sodom and be any good to anyone, including your own testimony of faith. People who want to not take political moral stands in a world that is falling apart and people who do so by claiming pietism m are simply moral cowards. There is no gospel that is going to keep you safe and no gospel that is going to commend your silence.
Pastor Jeff Schreve: Yeah, I just love that quote from her because the only answer as to why pastors aren't speaking up either they're liberals and they're in a more conservative church. And then they're careful to. I don't want people to know where I'm coming from. oftentimes the, the liberal pastor's in the liberal church. And so they're all for.
Speaker G: They.
Pastor Jeff Schreve: They're wearing rainbow flags and all that other stuff, but it's guys that are just cowards. They're like, well, some. I get some pushback and I don't want to get pushed back. And so we're just going to sing Kumbaya and talk about, you know, the, just something innocuous. Love your neighbor and, and be, you know, bring a cake to somebody that's new and moved into the neighborhood. We want to talk about how we can build bridges with the Muslims and things like that. Well, it's like, okay, it's fine to talk about some of that, but the house is on fire. And you know, I've used this illustration before, especially as it relates to abortion, because nothing is, the as big an issue as abortion in this election, in past elections, because it involves so the murder of, of so many innocent little babies ripped apart in the womb. And so that takes precedent. You know, you can say, with the Titanic. So, I bought my passage, I'm on the Titanic. And, I didn't like the fact that the soup was cold at dinner. my towels were not, sufficiently dried that came in. this was off. That was off. But nothing compares to the fact that the problem is you got a gash in the hull and the ship is sinking. So your frustration with the chef because the soup was too salty or not warm enough, that doesn't mean anything compared to the gash in the hull and the fact that the ship is going down. And so when we talk about those issues of abortion, we talk about those issues of transgender insanity, mutilating, children, children killing babies, mutilating children. I mean, those rise to the top big time. And it is incumbent upon pastors especially to speak up and say, don't vote for people that would vote for the killing of the unborn, that would vote for the mutilating of little children, the indoctrination of little children. Don't vote for somebody that's going to be anti Islam Israel, because Genesis 12 holds true. I had somebody ask me, somebody called me and asked me, has your view of Israel changed because of, you know, what's been going on over the last few months? I said, my view of Israel is rooted in Genesis chapter 12. I will bless those who bless you. I will curse those who curse you. I said, so, yeah, it hasn't changed. Unless God changes Genesis 12, which he's not going to. To do, my view on supporting Israel is never going to change. And they did. It's like they couldn't understand that whoever was asking me these questions. Some entity couldn't get that. Oh, that does. That's weird. It's like. Yeah, you don't get it. See, we are twice born men living in a world of once born men. And the natural man does not understand the things of the spirit of God. They're foolishness to him and he cannot understand them because they're spiritually oppressed, raised, and his ability to do that is nil. he has no spirit of God to guide him. And so we need to pray, as the scripture says. What do we do? We pray for the welfare of the city. We seek the welfare of the city, and we pray for the welfare of the city. We call upon God to open eyes to the truth. Because unless eyes are open to the truth and unless Christians get out and vote, Josh Howerton said they're expecting 8 to 9 million Christians just in Texas to not even bother to vote. Well, silence in the face of evil is evil itself. As was stated. We have to vote. And we have to vote based on the Bible. And if we go the way of God that provides welfare to all the people who live in the city, who live in the state, who live in the nation. Well, thanks for listening to Real Truth for today. Pastor Jeff Schrieve here. Go out today, shine for Christ and share what great things the Lord has done for you. And God will use you as his witness. God bless you.
Pastor Jeff Schreve returns to Real Truth for Today to discuss the events unfolding in France and what they may reveal about the challenges facing Western civilization. Drawing on Jeremiah 29, Schreve explores the biblical call for Christians to seek the welfare of the cities where they live, even as citizens of heaven. He examines issues including energy policy, immigration, declining birth rates, cultural values, and the role of government, connecting them to his broader message about faith and public life. Schreve also takes calls from listeners about the responsibility of churches and pastors to speak out on moral issues and encourages Christians to pray, participate in the political process, and stand for biblical principles in their communities.
