Pastor Jeff Shreve's Welcome, Fall Festival Highlights, and Christian Distinctiveness from the World
Jeff Chamblee Welcome to Real Truth for Today with Pastor Jeff Schrieve, senior pastor of First Baptist Church in Texarkana, Texas. Now, here's Pastor Jeff.
Pastor Jeff Schreve Well, good morning and welcome to Real Truth for today. It's Thursday, October 29th. Hope you're having a wonderful morning. It's beautiful weather here in Texarkana, Texas. We had our big fall festival last night at First Baptist Church, Texarkana. And, thousands of people came. It was just a great, great event. Hats off to all those who decorated, their trunks for trunk or treat. I mean, the decorations were really, really good. And the name of Jesus was glorified. The Gideons were there, passed out almost 1500 Bibles. We served 2500 hot dogs, all the food trucks. Everything was free for the people. And the kids had a great time. And so we, we just praise the Lord for that. And we hope from that we got to share the gospel. And we, hope from that we have people that will come back. You know, that, that event, those big kind of events are like first touch events. Hey, we're. You know, you might think that, Christians are weird, but guess what? They're not. And, we're different because we are to come out from among them, be separate. We're to shine and share.
Understanding Christian Holiness, Divine Commands to Israel's Kings, and Moses' Sermons Before Entering the Promised Land
But, I said, just last Wednesday night, you know, when you talk about being holy, you shall be holy, for I am holy. a Christian is not to be weird. She's to be different. we don't respond the way the world responds. We respond kindly to people. We bless those who curse us. And, we don't get down in the mud with people. Well, I want to talk to you today about the command that was given that God gave to Israel in Deuteronomy, chapter 17, concerning their coming king. Now, they didn't ask for a king until first Samuel, but in Deuteronomy, the Lord says this. Chapter 17, verse 14. When you enter the land which the Lord your God gives you. Now remember, Deuteronomy is three sermons that Moses gave on the plains of Moab, which is. That is east of the Jordan River. And Israel is getting ready to cross the Jordan and go into the promised land. But, Moses wasn't going to get to go because he sinned against God and failed to present, God as holy before the people. He struck the rock twice when he was supposed to speak to the rock. And he paid a price for that. And so he didn't get to go into the land. Well, he is delivering three last words, three sermons to the people before they go into the land, before he goes, home to heaven. And he says this. When you enter the land which the Lord your God gives you, and you possess it and live in it, and you say, I will set a king over me, like all the nations who are around me. God said to Samuel, don't grieve because you think they rejected you. They didn't reject you. They rejected me because God was their king. And he says, hey, there's coming a day when you're going to want to be like everybody else.
The Biblical Mandate for Choosing a King and Avoiding the Pitfalls of Power, Sex, and Wealth
You're going to want to set a king over the nation so you can be like all the other nations. He said, you shall surely set a king over you whom the Lord your God chooses one from among your countrymen you shall set as king over yourselves. You may not put a foreigner over yourselves who is not your countryman. That's important to remember, especially at election time when we have these people coming in, that are, they have foreign allegiances. Ilhan Omar, the Somali, is somebody that has a foreign allegiance. And what a disaster she has been. that's not the subject of the program today, but I hope she gets deported. anyway, he says, don't set anybody over you that's not from among your countrymen. Moreover, verse 16. He shall not multiply horses for himself, nor shall he cause the people to return to Egypt to multiply horses, since the Lord has said to you, you shall never again return that way. He shall not multiply wives for himself, or else his heart will turn away, nor shall he greatly increase silver and gold for himself. Now, those three things not to multiply horses not to multiply wives, not to multiply silver and gold for himself. Those three things. Horses relates to military power. Wives relates to sex and having a big harem. And, the, the sexual fulfillment and pleasures and things that go along with that. Having all these wives. Solomon had 700 wives and 300 concubines girlfriends. He's not to do that. And he's not to multiply silver or gold.
Analyzing the Dangers of Power, Sex, and Money as Leadership Pitfalls and Political Corruption Today
So you look at those things and you say, okay, what are the three big ones for a ruler? For anybody in authority, but especially for somebody in the position of king, watch out for power. Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Power, watch out for sex. Watch out for money. Greed, Money, sex and power. We talk about those things all the time and in leadership. One of those three, if not m more than one of those three. But at least one of those three is going to be an issue of temptation for people. Many pastors, where do they fail? They fail in the area of money, sex or power. Many times it's in the area of sexual temptation, but it can be in the area of power and can definitely be in the area of money. And, that's why it's not wise for pastors to get involved in the money. I mean, we are encouraging God's people to be faithful and to give and give generously. The Lord loves a cheerful giver. But don't get involved in the, nitty gritty of the money. I don't know who gives what. In our church, that's handled by the finance office. Only a very few, people, just two or three know what people give. I mean, somebody has to know, right? Because you get a tax statement, a giving statement. But, I don't know that stuff, and I don't want to know that stuff. And, so keep away from that. Keep away from the money. Those are pitfalls. Money, sex and power are pitfalls. Now in politics today, power is such a pitfall. It is such a pitfall. Now it goes hand in hand with money because you have to have money in order to run a campaign. You have to have money to fuel what you want to do. But we see people. And one of the things that has kind of derailed, the vision of the founding fathers to some extent, is they never saw these people serving in government for a lifetime. And then what, is your motivation? What is your focus? Serving the people or getting reelected? for many, it's. The reality is, well, I'm going to. I've gotten into power, and my main job is to retain power. So it's not necessarily to do what's right. It's to do what will keep me in office. Now, as far as power goes, wanting the power, doing anything for power, doing anything, saying anything to get elected, we see in Alaska something that was so far beyond the pale. this broke by the NewSong York Times, just yesterday. I wanted to, read you, this post. Ah, from the NewSong York Times. This was October 28th, just yesterday.
Investigating the Alaskan Election Scheme and the Democrats' Willingness to Deceive for Political Power
It says this. This is by, Kellen Browning. In the summer of 2025, a staffer for Mary Peltola, the Alaska Democrat who was eyeing a run for the Senate, received unusual instructions from top campaign aides. Here are the instructions. Find as many people named Dan Sullivan in Alaska as you can. Dan Sullivan, the income incumbent senator. So find people named Dan Sullivan, as many as you can in Alaska. The staffer complied, combing through voter records to produce a list of Dan Sullivan's from across the state. This was no random request. Dan S. Sullivan is the name of the state's Republican senator. And if the, Peltola campaign or its aides could track down and persuade another Dan Sullivan to run for senate, the confusion could cost the senator crucial votes on the state's unusual four person ballot. The plan worked. This spring, a retired teacher from a tiny fishing village alongside the Alaska panhandle, reachable only by air and sea, announced his candidacy for the senate. His name was Dan J. Sullivan. So you have two people on the ballot. One is Dan S. Sullivan, one is Dan J. Sullivan, One is a legitimate, candidate who is the incumbent. And the other is a plant. He's just a guy with that same name. Now this is what Mary, Peltola, she said, oh, I didn't have anything to do with this, but the evidence is coming out that. Baloney. She knew about this. This is what she said, concerning people who would do, you know, anything shady on an election.
Jeff Chamblee It should be a criminal offense. Yes, yes, let's work for that.
Pastor Jeff Schreve It should be a criminal offense to lie or mislead the electorate. That's what she said, in August. But now what is she saying? Well, I didn't have anything to do with that. The evidence is coming out that she did have something to do with it. And you know, you talk about just repulsive beyond words. you would do that. Your, campaign is so weak, your positions are so weak that the only way you can win, or one of the things to help you win is to deceive voters. You know, what did we Hear from the left. we hear it ad nauseam. Kamala Harris and Tim Walls. And we have to save electorate. We have to save our democracy. And this is a Donald Trump's a threat to democracy. We need to save our democracy. Well, nothing says let's save our democracy by deceiving the electorate in making them, trying to trick them with their vote. It's just disgusting. So Donald Trump posted on social, media in Alaska, I don't think Mary Peltola, after perpetrating such a terrible scheme, should be allowed to run. I would agree with that because this is election fraud. All in caps. The Democrats cheated. They found a man named Dan Sullivan, put him on the ballot, then lied to the court and said they didn't know anything about it. That's perjury. She shouldn't be allowed to run and neither should the fake Dan Sullivan.
Critiquing the Radical Left's Socialist Agenda and Contrasting it with American Values and Freedom
Well, I think any fair minded person, and I'm hoping that there are still some fair minded people on the left. I don't necessarily know very many fair minded people on the left, honest people on the left who can honestly objectively look at two candidates and two directions and make an informed decision. You know, we, often quote Bill Maher or look to see what is Bill Maher saying because he's a liberal. Liberal. But he hasn't checked his brains at the door as far as saying, wait a minute, you guys are, you're just moving the country so far. Your policies will move the country so far left. I don't want that. I don't want to become a socialist country. I don't want to have an Islamist, as my senator, as my governor. I don't want people to, that want Sharia law to be in charge. As Allen Dershowitz said. I don't want AOC and Bernie Sanders and Elisabeth Warren to chair any committees. That's not going to be good for the nation. Those people are socialists. And what is a socialist? according to Dominic, the Polish, MEP that we played yesterday, Traczynski, he says a socialist is a communist. And I lived through communism in Poland. It's a disaster. You stand in line, everybody's hungry, everybody's poor. yeah. Are we equal? Yeah, we're equal. We're all on the same playing field of starvation and having nothing. it's awful. Somebody posted, a meme today. I saw it on Facebook, friend of mine and said, when the Berlin Wallnua came down, how many people were running to get to East Berlin? No one. They had to the communists had to build a wall in East Berlin to keep their people in because they all wanted out. we build walls and have border security to keep people out because everybody wants to come in. And, isn't it amazing? These people that hate America don't want to leave America because America is the greatest country on the earth. Well, you're listening to Pastor Jeff Schrieve here on American Family Radio. Real truth for today. We're up against a break, but we'll be right back. Don't go away.
Supporting Preborn Clinics and Offering Hope to Women Facing Unplanned Pregnancies with Free Ultrasounds
This June marks three years since the overturn of Roe. But did you know that since then, the number of abortions has surged to a 10 year high? Preborn network clinics continue to support women facing unplanned pregnancies, showering them with God's love and providing free ultrasounds. When a mother meets her baby on ultrasound and hears their heartbeat, she's twice as likely to to choose life.
Pastor Jeff Schreve It was like the beginning of my healing journey. They do an ultrasound.
Jeff Chamblee That's when everything changed.
Pastor Jeff Schreve When I saw my baby and when
Jeff Chamblee I heard her heartbeat, that was it.
$28 sponsors one ultrasound and $140 helps to rescue five babies. Your generous tax deductible donation also helps to provide women who choose life with assistance for up to two. To donate, dial £250 and say the keyword baby. That's £250, baby. Or visit preborn.com afr.
Revisiting Leadership Pitfalls and the Alaskan Election Scheme: The Democrats' Pursuit of Power
Jeff Chamblee This is real truth for today. Podcasts of the program are available on the podcast [email protected] now back to Pastor Jeff Schrieve.
Pastor Jeff Schreve Welcome back to the program, Pastor Jeff. Here we're talking about the pitfalls of leadership From Deuteronomy, chapter 17, the things that leaders have to watch out for, money, sex and power. Those three God, zeroes in on those three. A king is not to multiply horses. That was military power. He's not to multiply wives. That refers to sexual immorality and all these alliances. That's why Solomon had so many wives, because he was making all these political alliances. So watch out for power. Watch out for sex and not to multiply silver and gold for himself. Watch out for greed and for money. and what are we seeing today? Those three things play out over and over and over again. Those three things cause the downfall of so many leaders and so many pastors. They get, swayed and they step on that landmine of money, sex and power. Well, what I see in politics today, especially on the left, is this desire for power. And we will say and do anything. If we think we can get elected, we will team up as liberals. We will team up with Islam to get elected. The Rick Green alliance makes absolutely no sense. And, Muslims will use the liberals to get elected. We'll join forces with you to, topple the conservatives. But what will they do when they get power? They will, you've heard me say it repeatedly. They will do what they did in Iran. They topple the shah, the Rick Green alliance. And then what happens? Greene kills red, the Islamists kill the Marxists and they take over and they turn, a once beautiful, wonderful country into a living nightmare for the people. Well, Dan Sullivan is the incumbent senator, Republican senator from Alaska. And as we said in the first segment, you have this, this person trying to, you know, take his seat, Mary Peltola. And, she and her team, went on a search for a year to find another Dan Sullivan that could run on the ballot and to confuse voters. And they found somebody. And so here was Dan Sullivan, the real Dan Sullivan, the senator Dan Sullivan, on the news last night.
Analyzing Political Deception, the Importance of Honesty in Leadership, and Seeking the Welfare of the City
Pastor Jeff Schreve Even today, she has not apologized. Even today, she's kind of playing as if nothing happened. She and her team, and at the highest levels of the dscc, spent over a year scheming in a secret operation to trick Alaskans to get them to throw away their vote. And it's remarkable. The Democrats will do anything to gain power.
Pastor Jeff Schreve That last statement. The Democrats will do anything to gain power. Say anything, do anything. You know the hidden camera that went into the church where James Talarico, Austin Presbyterian Church where James Talarico goes, caught, Babs Miller on a hidden mic and, asked her, you know, wait a minute, I thought he was strong on trans rights and all this stuff. And she said, well, he's just saying what he needs to say to get elected. But once he gets in office, he'll go back to where he was. yeah, that's the way, you know, so many of those guys, even guys on the right can say things to different groups. Hey, here's the thing about politics. And I'm a black and white guy, so I just put it out there. I don't have any hidden agenda. I'm not a strategist. As far as I'm going to try and make you think I'm doing, X when I'm really doing Y, and try and lead you down this path, I just say, hey, thus says the Lord, this is the direction I think that we need to go. This is why I think we need to go there and let's pray about it. You know, when we do fundraisers, for the church, we're going to, build something. We're going to have to replace something that's very expensive. We're going to need to raise some money. we don't. I just never felt the need to get one of these firms in to help you raise money and to work with your people and all that stuff. I just say, here's the need. Let's pray about it. And, you do what God wants you to do. We're going to trust the Lord, that he puts it on your heart, what he wants you to give. And God, has blessed that over the years. And First Baptist Texarkana is a great, example. have no debt and beautiful, facility and give lots and lots of money away to mission causes, locally in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and even the remotest parts of the earth. But we don't try and manipulate people at all. We just say, here's the thing. Now, I think in politics you ought to say, here's my vision and my direction for the country. If you elect me, this is what I think is important. This is, how I will vote. These are the things that I will value. And, if that is what you value, if that is what you want, then vote for me. If it's not, then the other person's responsibility, the other candidate will lay out their vision. And the voters, hopefully they do their homework and they say, okay, what are you saying? Because politicians are notorious for lying.
Evaluating Political Figures based on Actions, Embracing Patriotism, and Understanding Christian Nationalism's Role
So what are you saying? And what does your track record show that you actually do? And so, you know, I'm gonna vote for, as my friend, Rick Scarborough says concerning President Trump, we don't like what he says because he says a lot of things. You're just like, oh, that's so cringe. The Nicki Minaj comments. Just like, good grief. we don't like what he says, but we like what he does because he does good things for the welfare of the city, as the scripture says. Jeremiah 29. 7. What are we supposed to do? What were the exiles in Babylon supposed to do? Hey, guys. You're going to be there a long time. 55 years, from the time that was uttered. Jeremiah 29, seven. So build, houses and live in them and have families and give your sons, to, you know, your daughters to sons, and have your people marry and flourish and be fruitful and multiply and seek for the welfare of the city to which I've sent you into exile and pray for the city, for its welfare, because in its welfare you will have welfare. And so that's what we're supposed to do here in America. We are to pray for the welfare of America. We are to seek the welfare of America. Our citizenship is in heaven.
Discussing the Dangers of Islam, the Threat of Socialism, and the Importance of Understanding Political Ideologies
Philippians, 3:20 tells us, but we're here for such a time as this and we want to see people, take the word patriotism, being a patriot, loving your country and turning it into Christian nationalism, use it as a slur, a pejorative. But listen, Christianity is good for everyone. Even if you don't become a Christian, you benefit if the country is Christian, because you're going to have moral laws, good laws, you're going to have law and order. It is going to be, an environment where you can flourish. It's for human flourishing, it's for freedom that Christ set us free. It's not going to be an environment of restriction and bondage. Go to some of these other countries. It's very restrictive. And, you say things, you do things, and you can end up arrested for, preaching the gospel and, saying things, that we would deem as free speech. Over there you don't have free speech. Somebody pointed out, what do you have in, Dominic Traczynski? He pointed out, hey, in England you don't have free speech. You post things on social media, they come to your door, the police come to your door to check, you out and to arrest you. Because, hey, you can't say that, especially about Islam. You can't say anything negative about Islam. Well, Islam is, it's a damnable heresy. It's a world religion that has the devil's finger fingerprints all over it. And, here is something that, maybe will help you, as you think about voting. Many people have already voted. But voting is coming up on Tuesday, November 3rd. Victor Davis Hansen, who is a voice of sanity and reason, the Daily Signal, he talks about the fact that the Democrat Party, this is what Bill Maher has been saying. The Democrat party is taking a bullet train, to socialism and communism. And you know, we're going to say and do whatever we need to say and do to hopefully get elected. And he said, this is why the Democrat party of, 50 years ago doesn't exist today.
Victor Davis Hansen. For all practical purposes, there is no longer a Democratic party, at least as we've known it for 50 to 100 years, is a full blown socialist revolutionary party. The radical leftist and they believe in a mandated equality of result perpetuated or completed by radically high taxes. People who have been successful. And to transfer that money to people who have been unsuccessful, not because of any fault of their own or any gift or success of the wealthy, but because of oppression. And the victimized class feels that they have legitimate grievances against the other 70% for not having what they do. And therefore, the Democratic Party steps in and says that we will mandate an equality of results. So that's what the party is. That is the agenda. And you can see it on all fronts.
Pastor Jeff Schreve That's Victor Davis Hanson. okay, so I played this clip yesterday, but it's worth playing again.
Poland's Fight Against Communism and the Evils of Socialism: Lessons from Experience and Historical Warnings
This is, Dominic. I probably say his name wrong. I think it was Traczynski or something like that. It's, a good Polish name. I, like this guy. He's just straightforward. He didn't pull any punches. You come to the Polish border, you come here to change Poland. You come here to hurt us, we will shoot you dead. just doesn't pull any punches. He's the guy that went back and forth with Piers Morgan, and Piers Morgan called him a bigot. And he said, well, better to be called a bigot than to be dead. And this is what he had to say. Listen to it again. About socialism. And, so people are voting. Young people think socialism, oh, that's so cool. Everything is free. There's nothing free. If you get something for nothing, it means somebody got nothing for their something. they worked and got nothing. You didn't work and got something. If nobody does anything, nobody gets anything. And so if I work and they take all my money and give it to you, who didn't work. Well, I worked for nothing, and you didn't work and got something. That is not justice. That is not right. That is not biblical. So here is the Polish lawmaker, from the, parliament, talking about his experience as a boy in communist Poland.
Jeff Chamblee You are a Polish member of the European Parliament, and you've actually come here to America on a bit of a mission. So kind of give me your background and what it is that you're trying to do here in the U.S. i
Dominik Tarczyński was born in Poland, eastern Poland, in 1979. It's important because that was the communist times. I remember that President Reagan and Jon Paul ii, these two giants, freed Poland from communism. But I can see communism coming back, and I can see that America needs. There's a need for fight. I mean, honest fight. And, my presence here, first of all, is my way to pay respect for freedom. And this is very, very personal to me as a person who grew up under communism. Yeah, I was seven years old when my mom asked me to queue for shoes for all night. There was no food. There was no nothing to buy. I know what communism is. So I'm trying to take action. Not to be observant, but I want to be a fighter, go out to the people, try to explain how evil communism is. They call themselves socialists. They call themselves, social democrats. They are communists. And now I can hear from Bernie Sanders or AOC about socialism and equality. Yeah, everyone was equal in Poland. Everyone was equally hungry in the same way. That's, socialism.
Pastor Jeff Schreve Yeah. I mean, we need to hear and heed the people that lived through it. And younger people need to do their homework. they. They need, you know, God forbid that we would just vote based on an ad that we see and we don't do some research. I'm preaching this Sunday. I did a series for this. It's concluding this Sunday called Religion and Politics. And this is my third message. And I'm calling this sermon the need of the Hour. And I'm basing it off the sons of Issachar, First Chronicles, chapter 12. And what is said about the sons of Issachar. They were men who understood the times and what Israel should do. Israel was in a weird spot when, this is said about the sons of Issachar who went to David when he was at Hebron. And so if you know about Israel's history, so the first king is Saul. And saul rules for 40 years. Saul's a bad king. He had a good start, but he had a terrible finish.
Understanding the Times: The Sons of Issachar and the Call for Christians to Engage in Elections
Bad king. And the Lord took the kingdom from, Saul and said, I'm going to give it to someone better than you. And he had Samuel go and anoint little David, young David, the youngest of his brothers, son of Jesse. And, he's probably only 12, 13 years old when he gets anointed king. But he doesn't receive the kingdom for a long time. And David has a tough life. You know, Saul's trying to kill him. Saul's jealous of him. Well, after Saul dies in battle. Battle. David goes to Hebron, and they make him king of Judah, just one of the 12 tribes. And there's civil war between the house of David and the house of Saul. And the men of Issachar come to David along with, other men from other. The other tribes. And they say, we know what needs to be done. The tribes need to unite Under David. David needs to be king. They understood the times and what Israel should do. We need to pray that God's people, especially God's people, would understand the times and what we should do in this election. And we need to pray, pray, pray, because God answers prayer. Well, you're listening to Real Truth for today. The Crisis of a Biblical Worldview and the Need for Christians to Vote Wisely in Elections
Jeff Chamblee If you'd like to contact Pastor Jeff, email pastor jeffromhishheart.org now back to Real Truth for today with Pastor Jeff Schrieve.
Pastor Jeff Schreve Welcome back to the program. Pastor Jeff. Here in this segment, we like to open the phone lines and hear from our listeners. 888-589-8840. That's 888-589-8840. If you have a question or a comment, can be, off topic. If you just have something that's kind of burning in your heart and you say, what about this? I'll do my best to answer it from a biblical perspective. Remember we had George Barner on the program, just a week or so ago, and, George Barna was saying, sadly, had to report based on the, survey Data that, 4% of Americans have a biblical worldview. Six percent of those who call themselves Christians have a biblical worldview. And less than 50% of pastors and church leaders and people, in ministry, people on the staff of churches have a biblical worldview. We have let culture get in and we see the world through the lens, we see the Word through the lens of culture rather than seeing culture through the lens of scripture. That's what it means to have a biblical worldview. You see everything through the lens of scripture. But when you start looking at the Bible through the lens of culture, what do you do? You read into passages and, the, X platform protestia, they constantly are posting videos of these churches. They're not churches, but, they call themselves a church, but they'd be like James Talarico's church. It's just a, haven for theological liberalism and the devil's poison. But these people, oh, I'm a pastor, and this is what I have to say. And listen to my sermon. And, it's ridiculous. they posted, you might have heard this. the church in Ohio. That's near Cleveland, Ohio. LifeWorks Church. the pastor is Israel Ford. He's the founding pastor, founded the church in 2009. He announced to the church that he and his wife have added, another wife to the mix and brought her up on stage. You know, her and the, the, the original wife is all excited to bring this other wife into the mix. And so now this pastor has two wives. This pastor who calls himself a prophet has two wives. And, you're just like, good grief. I mean, what is happening? That, people would cheer for that they would go to that church. And it's not like a thriving church of 5,000 people. And it has, I don't know how many people. A couple hundred, maybe. But, how anybody could think that was good and right and fine and blessed of God and led by God, this guy said, we fasted, we prayed. This is what God led us to do. Well, you're not hearing from God. You might be hearing from someone, but it's not the Lord. as Jesus told those Jews who were arguing with him in Jon 8, you are of your father, the devil, and the desires of your father, you will do. He is a murderer, and he is a liar and the father of lies. And so people, who do things that go against the scripture, go against the stated, clear stated word of God, and say you're hearing from God, you're praying, and God told you that, I should marry another person, add another person into my marriage, because God led me to do it. My wife is good with it. we're all, one big happy family, in our polygamy. you've left the reservation, pal, and you, don't hear from God, and you definitely don't follow the Word. And you say you have fellowship with him, but you lie and do not practice the truth. You know, it says in First Jon 2:19, these people who claim to be Christians, they went out from us, but they are not really of us. For if they had been of us, they would have remained with us. But, they went out in order that it might be shown that they all are not of us. Just because someone claims to be a Christian, James Talarico, good example. Doesn't mean they are one. You're not a Christian. Just because you say I'm a Christian. A Christian is someone who understands that Jesus is the God man who died on the cross, rose again from the dead for our sins. That's what he came to do. And, bodily rose from the dead. Christian is someone who recognizes, I'm a sinner. I cannot save myself. Ah, Jesus, son of David, have mercy on me. Save me. Cries out to God for salvation and receives Christ, surrenders his life to Christ, doesn't check a box, but puts his life on the altar and says, lord, here I am. I give my life to you. And when you give all your life to Jesus and recognize who he is and what he came to do, he gives all his life to you, and you are saved. Well, we're going to the phone lines, and we have Ken on the line from Tennessee. Ken, welcome to Real Truth for today.
Caroline Hey, how you doing? the thing that frustrates me is that when you got a Christian who says they believe, you know, that they're.
Voting as a Christian Duty: Choosing the Lesser Evil and Aligning with God's Principles
And they say they are a Christian, they can't even get out and vote because they don't like a particular person. You're a citizen first, and, you know, and then you, a Christian. On top of that, you need to vote for the lesser of two evils. I mean, you're gonna have to vote for somebody that's most aligned with what your belief is and what they're doing. The other thing is about the Republicans. When the Republicans have all three branches and they still don't do what they're supposed to do. That's frustrating, too.
Pastor Jeff Schreve It really is.
Caroline I mean. Ah. And then you've got, Look, I think Trump is probably the best president we've had. I mean, in my lifetime. I liked Reagan, you know, but he's not a perfect person. But I think he's doing the things that most align with what a Christian would want done.
Pastor Jeff Schreve Trump is, going back to what Rick Scarborough said, and this was in 2019. He said, we don't like what Trump says. We like what he does. Trump says some stuff that you're just like, good grief, you're your own worst enemy. You know, I had mentioned about Pat Boone. We had Pat Boone on the program a couple of weeks ago, and, you know, Pat had called out President Trump. He knows President Trump, he loves President Trump, prays for President Trump, but he's like, you know, you keep shooting yourself in the foot. You just need to be quiet. you don't need to keep bragging on yourself. You don't need to say the things that you Say, but Trump is a good leader as far as leading the country in the right direction. And, that's the thing. I think you bring up a good point, Ken. when you vote, here's the big question. It's who is on the Lord's side? Exodus 32, that's what Moses asked the people. Who is on the Lord's side? You know, they're worshiping the golden calf. And, because God is not a Republican and he's not a Democrat, as it says in Joshua chapter five, when they're getting ready to go up against Jericho, and Joshua sees, this man with his sword drawn, and he said, are you for us or for our adversaries? He said, no, I come as captain of the Lord of hosts. Take your shoes off, Joshua. The place on which you're standing is holy ground. The Lord didn't come to choose sides. He came to take over. And so the question in voting is, who is closer to the Lord's side? You say there are things about, the Republicans that, I don't like this doesn't seem like it's on the Lord's side, but, but whose policies match up more closely with the Lord's side? Because you have one party that wants to go so far from the Lord's side, it's like taking a bullet train from the will and word and ways of God. That can't be the direction God would want us to go. The other party, maybe they're not quite there, but they're much, much closer and wanting many, of the things that the Lord says are important, namely, what is a government to do. Romans 13, law and order, the Republicans are going to be there, and so who's closer to the Lord's side? That is the issue. And Christians need to vote because as I said yesterday, I used the illustration about you're on a bus, and 10 people on the bus, and three people want to take a left which goes off a cliff. And two people say, no, we can't take a left and go off the cliff. Let's take a right and go toward greener pastures. And five people on the bus say, well, we can't, we can't decide, so we're just going to sit this one out. Guess, what. The three people that want to go off the cliff, they carry the vote and all ten of them die. And so people that make a bad vote, their vote counts just like my vote counts. People that make a bad vote and Christians who vote, without using any wisdom or Any discernment, if you're voting with the baby killers and the LGBTQ people and the I Hate Israel crowd and, the pro Islam crowd, those are enemies of the Lord. They are so far from the Lord's side. And, you're going to vote to take the bus off the cliff.
Socialism's Historical Dangers and its Connection to the Antichrist: A Warning for Today
And, you know, my life doesn't change because my citizenship is in heaven, in terms of my eternity. But you're going to ruin the lives of many, many, many people. And those people don't have eternity in heaven. So not only do you ruin their earth, ruin their earthly lives, you ruin their eternity. So I appreciate it, Ken. It's a good question. We have Joe, on the line from Texas. Joe, welcome to Real Truth for today.
Caroline Thanks, Pastor. a lot of people don't realize that, socialism had a really big push in the US as well as Europe in the late 1800s. And, Samuel, 1898, he wrote a book called Christianity and Anti Christianity and Their Final Conflict. And he talks about the rise of socialism and how it's basically, a perfected society, but it's a kingdom of man, not of God. And he talked about a lot of Christians who would be willing to, jettison fundamental doctrines, to see this, come about.
Caroline And then he.
Caroline Then he goes on to conclude, he said, socialism that will. It will, serve as a powerful lever by which the Antichrist may overthrow the existing political governments and the field cleared for the final contest. I mean, he saw it back then, and then it blew me away, because Oswald Chambers, he wrote something similar as well in 1934, and he was saying the vision of socialism is magnificent, and there's supposed blessings for mankind, which have never been yet. He said, but once the root is cut from redemption, it will be one of the most frantic forms of despotic tyranny. The human race is own. It, looks like the lamb, but when the big crisis comes, it gives life to the beast.
Pastor Jeff Schreve Yeah, that's a good point. Yeah, it's. You know, I had Rod Martin on the program, and I was asking him, I said, who's the bigger danger between the Rick Green Alliance? Is it Islam or is it Marxism? And he said, well, the Marxists have killed more people than Islam has. And so he said, based on that, I would say that the Marxists are the bigger danger now in my mind, because the, Islamists will fight to the death. we see that on Iran. You know, the only. The only way. You'd have to go in with Troops or nuke Iran to get them to quit. because they just keep fighting you, and, you know, you cut off both their legs and both their arms, and they're ready to keep going and hold the sword in their mouth. and so you have that. They're just so, focused with this lie from the pit of hell that, you know, that believes that Islam is the way and Allah is God and Muhammad is his prophet, all that stuff. So. Yeah, you bring up a good point. Tell me again the name of that author.
Caroline the one in 1898 was, Samuel Andrews, Christianity and Anti Christianity and Their Final Conflict. And the other one was Oswald Chambers, 1934. believe it's called in the Shadow of an Agony. I'll email you both.
Navigating Cultural Differences and Spiritual Warfare: A Witnessing Approach to the World
Pastor Jeff Schreve Okay, that'd be good. Well, thank you, Joe. That's a good word for sure. And I appreciate you, calling in today. We have time, for one last call. We have Umberto from Texas. Umberto, welcome to Real Truth for today.
Umberto (caller) Hello, Jeff. Nice to meet you. I'm gonna try and refer back to your, series last year when you had that guest on the occult, that came over. He was a minister, I believe, in Brazil.
Caroline Mm.
Umberto (caller) And I was just wondering how your approach, you know, with Halloween coming up and stuff like that. whenever you go to the different restaurants, you know how Houston's got, like, Indian and different cultures, right? Like that. do you, go to any, like, restaurants? You know, like. Like the Chinese, they had that. That money tree that's up there, the money pad or whatever it is. do you just pray over your food? Or how do you approach going to these different places? Or what are your limits? you don't go to Halal restaurants or Persian restaurants, or. I just want to get your.
Pastor Jeff Schreve Yeah. I'm not. My taste buds are not super exotic, so, I'm probably not a good one to ask about that, but, you know, I've gone to Chinese restaurants, and they'll have a Buddha out front and that kind of thing. I think that, you know, that's an opportunity. It's a witnessing opportunity. yeah. Pray for your meal. Pray for the servers, and let them know that you care about them. M. I think if I, wouldn't go to a restaurant that was really just in your face. you know, this restaurant exists to, you know, promote my religion and Islam or whatever it might be. I'd be hesitant to want to do business with them and want to help them in any way. But, you know, many, many of those that follow Buddha, they don't know any different. They don't know, better. And they're winnable folks. And, you know, we got to just remember that we live in this world. We're to be a witness to this world. We're to shine and share. And, the world is not the enemy. The world is the mission field. The devil is the enemy, and his satanic ideologies are the enemy. And so we come against those in Jesus name. We speak the truth in love. We love people, and we let people know that Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. And no one comes to the Father but through him. Well, thanks for listening to Real Truth for today.
Concluding Thoughts and Prayers for a Blessed Day and Continued Ministry
It's a joy to be with you every, every day. And I just, pray you'd have a good day today. Pastor Jeff Short Schrieve here on American Family Radio. I'll be with you again tomorrow. God bless.
